Let me see if I get this right

Schwab leadership believes they can cut their way to profitability. Because that worked so many times before for so many companies (spoiler alert: it didn't). Can we get rid of the joke management we have now and get some true leaders to run this... — read more

is promotion impossible now?

I know promotion is probably the last thing on people’s mind now but I want to get some insight to cope with my situation. My manager has been trying to get me a promotion for about a year now. With the salary transparency/fairness act in place in... — read more

People who are not worried about layoffs

How much do you have in savings to be so blase about layoffs? I haven't been able to sleep properly in weeks and there are people who are going on about it like nothing out of the ordinary is happening. Please, tell me, what kind of a safety net do... — read more

Sick of I&O Cronies Vent

Which IO area and leader is the worse? I see each MD have their favorites and protect them even if they cross the lines with employees. CP, DL and MM to start with say they team players but are only in it for themselves.

Contractor to FTE Salaries & Offer

When colleagues and I were converted from contractors, we received a non negotiable salary offer that was identical to the contractor rate, plus or minus $10k. I'm curious if these elements were the same or different for others. Share your info if... — read more

Mobile teams affected?

Just looked at the reviews in the app store since the TG, and they are overwhelmingly negative. Anyone know how the different mobile product teams will be affected in layoffs? TDA only had 2-3 mobile scrum teams compared to Schwab’s 25+.

This is getting ridiculous

You can't just drop the layoff bo-b on us and then act like it's business as usual. You can't expect us to keep working like it's any other day. We are people, not robots, and stuff like this affects us. You can't just expect us to shrug it off and... — read more

For or Against RTO

This is an interesting read regardless of which side of the RTO aisle you’re on. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/features/2023-09-04/what-the-return-to-office-looks-like-globally?srnd=work-shift?utm_medium=social

I never took a single sick day while WFH

That is only one of the things that will change for the worse for the company once I start to RTO - or let me rephrase that, once I'm forced to RTO.

Mechanics of upcoming layoff

How do you think things will play out for impacted colleagues? As layoffs will be in the thousands, I am thinking it'll be a meeting of some kind, probably scheduled a few hours before, during which they will remove all access and at the end of... — read more

Remote workforce and the housing market

Interesting article. I think we would agree the housing market is bad, this article says it would be even worse if people weren’t working remotely. https://www.cnn.com/2023/09/03/homes/remote-work-housing/index.html

I thought the point of these layoffs is to save money, right? Then why are we still hiring people left and right? Just look at the number of open positions that are being advertised - it's in the hundreds. Can somebody please explain to me how is... — read more

Hope this helps

When I was laid off, leader scheduled a call at 8am (was 7:30am when I received the meeting request - was working from home). Joined the call (it was just the two of us). It was scripted and leader read from a script and told me it wasn’t an... — read more

Schwab i leadership is psychopathic

You can’t make this stuff up… After what we have been though with RTO and the anxiety of layoffs, our “leadership” has the nerve to ask people to stay and work OT for TG3? America is currently in a silent depression where the middle class is being... — read more

Schwab is not too big to fail

I think our leadership should remember that from time to time since they keep making decisions that will impact the company negatively down the line. Just saying.

Skip Meetings

For those of us newer to Schwab or from TDA, what are the skip meetings like, and do you think they’re really a precursor to layoffs, or is that overblown?

I hope this ends soon

These RIFs are causing productivity, quality, and morale to plummet. It's most likely going to hurt revenue too, in the long run. It needs to end.

Schwab apps

Who really thinks STS has what it takes to build and maintain industry standard apps?
