Long article in the WSJ today shows petroleum engineering student enrollment has fallen 75% despite high prices and stratospheric starting salaries. Young people do not like filthy industries destroying the planet and/or do not see a future there. ... — read more
Novorossoiysk Bombings may cripple Chevron cash flow.
Chevron relies heavily on the Tengiz cash cow. Most of TengizChevroil oil is ether shipped by pipeline or rail to the Novorossiysk port to be exported. If bombings close the port, Chevron maybe in dire straits.
CNE top heavy?
For an organization that makes no money the number of GM’s (all grade 28 I assume). Is astounding. For all of MW penny pinching he has been very generous here. I wonder what grade 26+ count in upstream is v/s CNE.

What is going on with all the budget cuts we are having? Transform to Win was supposed to be the painful cut and layoff that would make is lean where we didn't have to have more painful cuts later. We have delivered a lot of value to the shareholders... — read more

Chevron Managers
What’s the biggest lie or “untruth” you’ve heard a manager spew?
Layoffs are a fact of life
Chevron has fewer layoffs than most other O&G companies. Yes, they're not ideal but don't make the company out to be this huge villain just because it's doing what's best for the bottom line in the long run. Please, show me one major company that's... — read more

If CTC or EMC disappeared…
Would anyone notice? Would there be any downside? Both functions are useless at this point, and bring more friction than benefit.
Too much disruptive change

How much money for retirement
I know there was a thread kind of like this but it got a little political so let’s keep that out of this. Let’s talk real numbers off of what’s needed and when is the right time to retire. Just want to be ready if the cuts do come. We are 50 &... — read more
Was Watson forced out?
I never heard what really happened there, but this group seems to be in the know so I figured I would ask.
Layoffs coming?
There are a lot of cuts going on a lot of reorganizations. Are layoffs coming? We are doing well as a company but MW does seem to want layoffs often here so they have to be coming soon to quench the layoff thirst.

It bothers me that Chevron is no longer the innovative company it once was. Whatever happened to this company's innovative spirit, where did it go?
When is it the right time?
