Strategies for surviving a PIP

In a situation where I was PIPed, I would immediately start job hunting. But, maybe someone can give advice on specific strategies that one can employ to survive it?

Let It Rot

Since bosses found a way to equate workers doing their jobs within the description with quitting altogether, let’s call their bluff and dial down our efforts even further. Let it rot: *To actively embrace a deteriorating situation, allowing it to... — read more

Why do you think you are PIPed?

I usually hear from people that they think they were PIPed not because of their actual performance but because of animosity from their boss.

Dress Code

I have noticed staff dresssing quite a bit better now that we are in the office less. I assume they are hoping to look more professional and get noticed for it? Leaders espexiallly.

Performance Improvemant Program

So, my boss says I am on a "formal PIP" the rest of the year. Has anyone else had to do one of these? How did it work out? Should I just start looking for another roll now?

Leaving Chevron

Company loyalty and Quiet Quiting

There is still a lot of morale issues and frustration with workers. I know we have jobs but a major disincentive for working above and beyond and being truly loyal is the constant threat of mass layoffs and a track record of layoffs every few years... — read more

HR works for the interest of employers

Everyone keeps saying that HR is never on the employee's side and that it works in the company's interest. However, the way that HR works here, is it really working entirely in the company's interest? Of course, they protect Chevron from... — read more

Backfilling positions

A colleague left his job a long time ago and still hasn't been replaced. It's a bit strange that it takes so long for Chevron to fill that position again. I don't know if the problem is in (in)efficient recruiting strategies or maybe it's something... — read more

Layoffs in November

I've heard a rumor that there might be some layoffs in November. I personally think that's a bunch of bullcr-p but it doesn't hurt to check. Has anybody here heard anything similar or is this just another case of people who don't have enough on their... — read more

Long-term sufferers

This is not an ideal company and there are many issues that are just piling up. However, I think that there isn't any (at least not in this industry) truly altruistic company that serves its employees first. Good luck with the expectations that any... — read more

HR PSG’s too high

I got a glimpse of several of the HR postings and I was amazed at how many 26-27 jobs they have. HR should peak at about 24 for a GM, they don’t have any technical skills and are the least efficient organization in the company. I guess when you are... — read more

Attrition: Exxon Culture vs. Chevron Culture

Getting promoted to the same salary

Retirement Restoration Plan

When I look at my 401k in my online Fidelity profile, I see another entry for "Chevron Retirement Restoration Account" with a nice chunk of change. What is this? How did I get it? Can I manage how the money is invested? How is it taxed?

New Leadership Roll

Team meeting

In our team meeting this week the boss said there has been a lot of discussion of this sight in management. He gave a veiled warning to stay off it. Yikes.
