Citigroup probed by feds over ties to sanctioned Russian billionaire. Investigated by the IRS, DOJ and the FBI
https://nypost.com/2024/11/14/business/citigroup-probed-over-ties-to-russian-billionaire-suleiman-kerimov-report/ I remember when we just couldn’t wait to open up more locations in Russia. Seems like that was not a good decision at all. You guys... — read more
So re-leveling = don’t count on inseat promos
Seems to be the main takeaway at least. No incentive to go above and beyond anymore (at least during promo cycles, lol). This company hates you and makes it impossible to even WANT to grow. Meanwhile our competitors actually celebrate their internal... — read more
The only true transparency are the intentions that Citi management tries to hide.
The Citi playbook on people management is so predictable. From watching this board for a while now, I find that about 70% of those about layoffs, time lines, management initiatives etc… turns out to be true which is a higher success rate than I’d... — read more
How is the job market at the moment?
As suggested in the title. What is your job hunting experience? Is the market warming up? Thank you.
Be careful. When they ask you to put a tic in that box that you’ve read the employee handbook, make sure you read the fine print.
There’s no telling in what way they may change it or add to it in the fine print. You very well may be agreeing to take a much lower salary going forward. While you don’t have to agree to take a reduced salary, they can still get rid of you. You... — read more
Citi will first reduce pay for maaaannny people, then a month or so or over time lay many of them them off.
As their pay is now reduced, the severance is now smaller as you have been adjusted lower. This is just one method they are coming up with to run people off at a much lower cost.
What is the impact of ChatGPT on our jobs in Citi?
Does anyone have information on how our jobs are being affected because of ChatGPT ? Less number of coders needed ? Fewer BAs and Admins and PMs? Any news on the direction being taken so far ?
Its all a shell game of numbers.
There’s something happening that you can’t do anything about but you need to recognize it so that you are prepared. Citi is counting on your fear to “step in line with putting in more hours”. Its a way to prove you’re dedicated to the cause and are... — read more
Locking down US data taking form.

Relevel discussion Citi stream meeting 11/19?
What is this about?
Well here we are. Everyone sitting on the edge of their seat, waiting.
Citi is notorious for layoff news in Nov-Dec. Before Christmas, classic move Citi. Belfast is being scrutinized. There are rumors of only 1% promotions, if any. There are rumors of little to no bonus’s or raises. There are rumors of leveling many... — read more
1% promotions
Entire technology group is limited to 1% of the staff (levels up to C14) to get promotions. In prior years the typical numbers are 4% of the people can be put up for promotion. This year it’s 1%. It’s going to drive attrition once people who perform... — read more

PAC Insights: Election Aftermath and Implications
Wondering what the point of this call next week is. It is common knowledge on Wall Street that Trump is going to de-regulate, which is going to allow the banks to thrive instead of being choked by reporting and regulations. Specifically Citi has been... — read more
There is an exclusive group, its private and the membership is very limited.

To the guy who always, every day, uses the word “ $hittybank”, you are losing your audience.
You’ll start off with a decent point or argument but when you start using “ $hittybank”, people stop paying attention. Especially when you start ranting. Plead your case, make it civil and you’ll get a better response or even higher + rating. — read more

The problem is not the level, its the pay scale. You have a developer and he’s/she’s top notch and deserves top notch pay. You have to make them an SVP at the upper end of the payscale to pay them what they are worth so that they don’t leave for... — read more

Follow the rule
All this moaning and groaning, speculation and anxiety can all be dealt with by following one rule. “Care about the company, as much as the company cares about you.” Once you embrace this, the rest of it melts away.

I'm feeling like I'm going to self-prophesize myself into being cut due to this. I'd laugh if it wasn't sad and terrifying.
