Next 2 weeks

Next 2 weeks critical Expect more than the initial 1% may be 5% before the month is over. Probably lots in technology locations

Fear over nothing.

A few banks have gone under here and there, so what. Jane managed to grab another 2 million for herself and I’m sure there’s a rather secure safety net for her in case things take a turn for the worse. She’s going to be just fine. So you guys are... — read more

Equal risk vs. ESG

I think layoffs need to be percentage based. If the Citi work force is 80% men and 20% women, then that should be the layoff percentage. If you need to layoff 100 people, then that layoff pool needs to be 80% men and 20% women. 8 males and 2... — read more

Layoff Targets/Methodology

Once a team has been identified to have RIFs, at Citi, is it common for layoff criteria to be primarily performance ratings? 4s get laid off first, then 3s, then 2s, then 1s? Or is it more about white males get let go first, then white females... — read more

Recession ebb and flow

The ebb and flow is as this. Recession hits and jobs get scarce. Management knows this so they leverage these times to really crack the whip. Team meetings will be peppered with implications of “work hard, longer and more often” “there’s plenty of... — read more

Don't count on the pressure to ease up

Pressure won’t get any better. The impending recession will be used as a tool to make you take on more and more and more work with tighter and tighter deadlines. You’ll hear the implied “do it or else”. You’ll hear the all famous “times are tough... — read more

Burned out

That’s all. That’s the message. Not sure why I’m venting here. It’s the internet. But I feel lost and overwhelmed. Been at citi for 14 years. But now is particularly tough. I’m overworked but I put stuff off, drop the ball on items, not interested in... — read more

Recession layoff but still hiring, sorta odd.

So each company lays off to show financial responsibility. Company A lays off and company B lays off. Each one opens up positions to fill what they laid off. Company A and Company B just ends up trading employees. Each company claims we are... — read more

3rd option

I think some of the biggest mistakes that people make is: expect a company to bend to their will expect a company to stay the same They often forget about option 3 which is to move on. With every single layoff there is a talent vacuum that... — read more

Layoff Question/Process

Does anyone know how Citi notifies employees of layoffs? Specifically, those being laid off? Anyone's help is appreciated!

Crazy talk, its all nonsense.

I find all this news of layoffs this week so incredibly hard to believe. So many other replies of this being such a huge unsubstantiated rumor just can’t be wrong. For weeks now, post after post of this being such an impossibility wrapped up with “I... — read more

I take it we are done?

I don't see any posts about layoffs continuing today, and by now we'd definitely know if something was still going on. I'm going to take that as a sign that layoffs are done and they notified everybody they wanted to notify yesterday. Am I missing... — read more

Layoffs have started today

Watch this space. Citi wide layoffs being announced today. Calls have happened, and will continue to happen all day.

Layoff’s smayloffs.

The pendulum swings one way then another. The great resignation one year, massive layoff the next. In both cases there’s a vacuum that needs to be filled. Companies don’t really layoff, they just exchange employees. Instead of making 6 figures at... — read more

Happening this week

Finally happening by this Friday or next, across the board but highest pct will be in technology…, all know the reasons why.

Jane is a pure genius.

Locking in a 2 million dollar raise for herself BEFORE company wide layoffs. Well played Jane, well played. Like her or not, she’s a smart one.

Looks like Citi is fee farming like Wells Fargo

Cutting a credit card holders limit from $10,000 to slightly over the balance they hold in the account should be illegal. It sets up an overdraft and that triggers increases in the interest rate. If a consumer isn't paying attention it can be a good... — read more

HB1 visa

While corp America may be still leveraging HB1 workers, that may come to an end soon. Congress will be penalizing companies enough to where it’d be cheaper to hire US citizens than HB1. I know that this has been said before but there are new... — read more

RTO reality

RTO is a class issue. It hit me the other day that one of the reasons I have such a negative reaction to RTO is because it’s about the power dynamics - not employer/employee but Elite vs Worker (look yourself up in workday ‘Worker’). The benefits of... — read more

Big Tech Using Layoffs to Rein In Workers

The next Clown Hall meeting

I suspect the next Clown Hall meeting will discuss focusing on re-alignment (layoffs as in plural) and adding resources in the right places (offshoring to replace who they are running off). Layoff’s will happen Q1.

Citi layoffs…..is it coming? Or not?

Citi has a long history of: Laying off at least once per year. Maybe not a massive amount each time but its done. & Following the lead of other banks. If other banks are doing it, then so will Citi. So for now, Citi hasn’t laid off, but will. Other... — read more
