When are merit increases?

I've been in technical sales over a year now and I've never gotten a "bonus" I hear others talk about. When do merit increases happen? Q1? March?

Where is the logic in that?

All those rumors about layoffs that are around the corner just don't make any sense to me. I don't understand why would a company lay off workers while at the same time being very short staffed. It goes against common sense but I guess at Dell... — read more

Dell keeps on taking away!

Laid off (WFR) and paying thousands for COBRA out of pocket. Once again Dell claws back! Beat the he-l out of us to use Virgin Pulse to get rewards. Went through weeks of recording stats only to get a mail yesterday saying it was a mistake and Dell... — read more

I left after 23 years

I didn't have much trouble landing a new position that pays slightly better than Dell. This company is still a great reference that opens many doors. Rightfully or not, you decide. I admit it was scary leaving a place where I've spent more than two... — read more

Any layoff news??

It's a new year and wondering if any rumors or news out there for 2022?

They can get away with anything

I'm curious, what does a manager need to do to get reprimanded at Dell, not to mention let go? I can tell you they can treat their direct reports like cr-p, including being verbally abusive towards them, and foster a toxic work environment and suffer... — read more

Unable to stop the attrition?

People are not leaving because of the problems they have had since yesterday. People are leaving because of issues that have been piling up here for years. Just like those issues did not appear suddenly, it is impossible to solve them all at... — read more

People here develop thick skin over time

I made the jump off that sinking ship a little while back. Because of the toxic work environment at Dell, my new position has been relatively easy. I did have to catch up on the new tech, but I am doing okay there. You don't know how sick the Dell... — read more

One ISG

I’ve finally quit after getting really bored. Over the past 2 years and since they started with the One ISG transformation, my workload dropped by 70% while I received 2 promotions for doing much less work. My colleagues and I were sitting idle most... — read more

It's not good to stay here very long

Even if you are quite satisfied and feel safe (as much as possible), it is not good to stay here for more than two years. Otherwise, this is a place where you will slowly become less marketable because your skills will atrophy. I am talking from the... — read more

Heard some people got a two week notice last friday (nov 5th) ?? Is this part of matching numbers with the VMW spinoff ? This isn't their typical time of the year

HR case for federal vaccination requirement

Has anyone that hasn't been vaccinated yet opened an HR case to check if they're included in the federal vaccination requirement? They had mentioned it was necessary to open an HR case by 11/5 and I was wondering what the HR response was like.

Replacement = irreversibly lost knowledge

Dell thinks everyone is easily replaceable, but that's not the case. If by replacement they mean to replace an excellent employee who has the expertise, skills and experience, with an employee who has none of that - then it is true, everyone is ... — read more

Unreasonable deadlines

Is it just happening to me or are the deadlines at Dell becoming increasingly unreasonable? I have a lot of experience thanks to which I still somehow manage to meet the deadlines, but I have a colleague who did not come here so long ago and who is... — read more

My last post when I dared say Dell is not that bad as an employer as some say got heavily downvoted but here we are several weeks later and Dell once again ranked among the top ten world's best employers. Considering that Forbes uses employee surveys... — read more

Dell is still among the best

Say what you will, but Dell is still among the best employers. I've worked at several other industry giants before and I know the true definition of a toxic culture. What we have is certainly not it. I think people are simply too sensitive these days... — read more
