Why no requests for volunteers?

Why no ask for candidates rather than hacking away at the workforce? Is there a financial or other reason Dell would rather push people out rather than ask if any want to leave?

No Sarcasm please

Question. I think my number is coming up for next layoffs. For anyone recently laid off- Were there any signs or symptoms that your lay-off was on the works? Is there anything that you wished you would have said or when lay-off notice was being... — read more

TellDell used in Layoff Decision?

Now that the dust of the first layoff has settled, I’ve been hearing some anecdotal cautionary tales from laid off peers that they did not express 100% satisfaction in their first TellDell. I didn’t do that first TD survey and was “randomly... — read more

We can't take any more cuts

This can't keep happening. They remove one more person from my team and we might as well lock the door and throw away the key. I think that people who decide who to lay off have no idea what most of us are doing and what (and how many people) it... — read more

Everything but shipping boxes

Laid off in Sept. I've received severance, remaining commissions, and COBRA. Everything except shipping boxes to send equipment back. Has anyone else received these? Do they really want a 5 y/o printer back? Shipping costs are probably higher than... — read more

How stupid can you get

So it continues, the EMC management dismantling a successful Dell business unit brick by brick. Could it have anything to do with the fact the Dell GCCS VP was growing business ($1.4b) whilst the EMC manager's number ($400m) was stagnating, even with... — read more

Who still enjoys working here?

After everything that’s happened since the September cuts does anyone still enjoy working here? Or are they treating their job as just a paycheck and couldn’t care less? Work has been doubled, pay is the same (at least for me), and environment has... — read more

Silo's and Epmires

Wasn't it Jeff Clark that stated they would bring down the silos in Dell. I guess he forgot to mention they would build bigger ones along with Empires too! Everything is based on the biggest graphs and charts nothing else..... They keep... — read more

WFR me, already!

I'm ready to move on - after 20+ years at Dell/EMC I have enough savings to retire. But if you quit you get 2 weeks pay and they kiss you goodbye. Dell k–led the VSP program (Voluntary Separation Package), so there I am, working a little less every... — read more

Why isn’t the pandemic pushing our sales?

Oh my... While the pandemic is increasing the demand for new laptops and PCs, Dell has not been able to take advantage of the work-from-home computer sales boom for two quarters in a row. The sales results are awful and worrying:... — read more

I just received my first unemployment payment and it was straight unemployment, no covid relief, is that correct? I have a friend that is also laid off and they are receiving extra $$ for covid (laid off in July, NOT from Dell). Just wondering if... — read more

Layoffs aren't personal it's just business

If you believe that bullc-ap then you're a fool. If you are chosen to get WFR'd in your group when your peers have not then that is personal. It's telling you in the stack rankings that you're the most expendable. So next time somebody tells you it's... — read more

This downsize is all about profitability

If you look at Dell's financials, almost all their profits for the past six months resulted from cost cutting, and despite efforts, net income has been trending down. And people, unfortunately, are the most expensive aspect of running Dell. If you... — read more

Layoffs

Yes layoffs have started. The first round was last month around the third week. I was laid off. Have received my separation agreement docs. Sent the signed docs but have yet to receive my severance.

Wall of Shame

Anyone else shudder at the "Wall of Shame" speech re Powerstore Sales Funnel? Publishing a global shame file for anyone who's customers aren't using PS?

WFR Separation Agreement Help

I noticed that the last paragraph on the separation agreement states that the doc must be signed and returned by close of business on the 13th day. Since COB is mentioned should we only count business days? Sales reps were somewhat encouraged to... — read more

It would be nice if we knew when severance was coming

With no paycheck last week and no unemployment either it’s going to get really tight soon... an email or something indicating severance will be paid on such and such a date would be helpful to many I’m sure. Jobs are out there, I wish everyone luck! — read more

Question about COBRA

I read the agreement where Dell will pay for COBRA for 2 months. After the 2 months is up, has anybody continued with COBRA or find another insurance carrier while still looking for job?

Didn’t Dell sell a ton of computers during COVID?

Closed offices, salespeople no longer expensing travel, capped internal movement pay and promotions, stopped contributing to 401k. There are incompetent people still employed but I’m now paying $2000k a month for insurance during a pandemic.

How long before severance payment received?

Just curious if anyone knows how long it takes between sending back the signed paperwork and receiving the severance payment, any ideas? I know they have up to 30 days but I am hoping it doesn't take that long...

Why is anybody surprised by this?

Layoffs are nothing new at Dell. Now, a big round might be unusual for sure but small, sporadic layoffs have been taking place on weekly bases for a couple of years now. Anybody who's been paying attention knows this by now. So learning that this... — read more
