Anyone else sick of being told the work is so great we should be happy just to have the privilege of doing it?
Powerwalking Works! Got my job back!
I was PIP’d last year and I’ve been in a rut… I haven’t been able to find a direction in life without somebody telling me how I should feel about issues and what I should be working on. I’ve been on this board a lot longer than I’d like to admit .. — read more
Has anyone even tried?
Can anyone speak of to even one personal story of anyone in management trying to boost moral or stem attrition? Answering Employee Forum questions doesn’t count. For anonymity, we don’t even need details. Just confirmation that a manager has... — read more
Power walking works!
Just heard that I will not be PIPed this year because when I was discussed it was mentioned that I am always "available" and always "contributing." All I do is power walk and ask meaningless questions in meetings! To the guy that suggested power... — read more
Can you imagine being here for four decades or more?
This is not an attack on the poster from a few threads below, I'm just amazed that anybody has been here that long. I joined about five years ago and if I stay another five I'm going to consider that a success. I think things must have been very... — read more
Your thoughts and Process Technology Department (PTD)
What is the general consensus on the Process Technology Department (PTD)? I feel its in a weird place in EMRE, that is between CSR and more business oriented functions.
How good is Retiree Medical, really?
A lot of the old hands always talked about how important that supplemental retiree medical coverage from EM is. I’ve also heard the premiums have gone up significantly in recent years, so is this statement still true?
I'm losing my mind
Anyone finding it harder to give a sh-t anymore? I can't be the only one
I'm just going to be honest...
I've been with ExxonMobil for more than 40 years (I will be 67 in a few months). Yes, I realize that makes me a Baby Boomer, but save your criticism. I know I should retire, especially given the state of the company, but I don't want to. The pay is... — read more

LT giving off cycle increment
Heard on the grapevine they are giving an off cycle increment in China. Not sure what is the increment like and any other affiliates getting this as well?
20% attrition rate this year in Brussels
20% of the workforce has applied for the voluntary severance package. 15% had the chance to get it. In the meantime 5% has also already resigned this year outside of the layoff scheme. So we are at -20% with an additional 5% having given their... — read more

Leaving the industry
I'm at the point where I'm not only ready to leave XOM but the entire industry. Let's face it, working in O&G was never a cakewalk but the industry has been especially brutal for employees in the past decade or so. Just going to another O&G company... — read more

KLTC Lazy Scrounging
Who else is sick of KLTC’s jobsworth and lazy scrounging? They take a pay cheque and deliver little to no real value (apart from the odd report etc, which no one reads anyway). No attempt to try and improve systems or take initiative, just... — read more

Thread of morale boosters that cost $0

XOM: “we didn’t change, your job was never guaranteed”
Ouch. Yes, we are at-will, but an 8% MLRP, taking away limitations on change in performance and ranking new hires their first year is one he-l of a change if you ask me…or…anyone with a brain…
UBS Forum: excellent questions, roundabout answers
Typical XOM. The questions give me a little hope and management grabs their fly scatter and ki--s it. It’s an emotional absive relationship with my employer.
This UBS Forum is a joke
The answers to these Q&As is absolutely ridiculous and a complete joke. None of these leaders are actually answering the questions and/or owning up to the failures and concerns and what employees want. What an awful way to try to retain employees... — read more
Q: what’s the value proposition for XOM employees to work here?
A: they should be excited for the future! What a joke this company is. They made it clear they’re aware that they don’t appear competitive and attrition is up. Their answer? We’ll be left with the most driven and smart employees! Let’s see... — read more

UBS forum - “cutting the dividend would lessen confidence in XOM”

Some people here confuse me

Tight little summary from Gla$$door a few years back on your Career here

The straw that broke the camel’s back - Overwork and burnout

Management promised they would address the 30% pay cut in Midland. Yet silence is deafening. At least tell us when a decision will be made. Patience is like air in a sealed room. No matter how much you start with, eventually you will run out.
Focus on What You Can Control
