How can I compete with supervisors like these.

I have moved into a new group and am an outsider. Thew supervisor does not talk to me unless there is something wrong with what I am doing. I get no chit chat or small talk from them. No one else in the group speaks to me as well. Imagine my surprise... — read more

Search is worthless

The intranet search used to be decent. I always used to search “overview” and filter PowerPoint and get a lot of great information on different topics. You can’t search anything now. It either gets hung up or returns junk.

Do Not WORRY about BTC. Ai will replace them soon!

I am a Software Architect that has worked there at spring and ,yes, have trainned offshore resources. The logic behind was = "move all coding offshore where it is 1/6 of the cost" That IS GONE! KUDOS TO THE LLMS! KARMA!

Drowning in work

Exxon's bleeding talent, and the rest of us are swamped. The leadership acts oblivious while we’re stretched thin. Wish I could leave, but sadly, jobs are scarce right now, and that's putting it mildly. "Be grateful you have a job" doesn’t help when... — read more

What does having a sponsor mean?

I am in the Upstream and have been with the company 7 years. I have done well within the confines of the racking system...bouncing around between excellent & outstanding. I was told this cycle I have a few high-level sponsors within the company... — read more

You gotta move on

I get the attachment to oil work, I really do. The pay's good, the culture's familiar, and it's all some of us have known. But clinging to an industry that's clearly shrinking isn't loyalty, it's self-sabotage. I've watched too many guys spend years... — read more

Who or what are the CLs in global projects and brownfield, is the ceiling a 27? Is it possible to become a executive there?

Can Darren stay chairman even after retirement?

Darren will have to retire in 2030 when he turns 65. I’m wondering, is it possible for him to split the chairman and CEO role and then hang on to the chairman position even after retirement?

Ranking Sessions

How do ranking sessions work? The representative gives the 2-3 minute pitch and then what? People in the room agree/disagree on what category the person belongs in? What if others in the room don’t have an opinion on the worker? Is it then just up to... — read more

Deadweight HiPo

I just don’t understand how XOM can keep so many layers of HiPo supervisors, managers, and advisors around. The HiPos that flit through organization who do nothing. They were all pleasant…said all the right things and maybe sponsored some low... — read more

Clinton NALI meeting

Thoughts on this morning's NALI update meeting in Clinton? I'll start: I love how they still have no plans yet for hiring/training lab staff, yet they're going to start moving some equipment as early as 4Q2025.

Career owner

I was told I have a career owner assigned to me. What do they do anyways?

Teagle scholarship

Has anyone else’s child had issues with the Teagle scholarship this year?

No longer working with the best and the brightest

Not so long ago I could put up with a lot of management nonsense because I was working with some really great people who knew what they were doing. Now I am surrounded by the incompetence of the BTC and Contractors that have also gone all in on using... — read more

I miss the old days

You know, when we had great pay and benefits that attracted the best people. Today, the benefits package sounds good only on paper. When you look closer at high deductibles, tiny raises, and cost-cutting everywhere, it no longer feels competitive... — read more

No Career Development. No encouragement. No feedback.

I’m a fairly young employee. Do my job well and with a positive attitude always. Work well with others and regularly go above and beyond for things outside of my job description. I don’t think someone has called out me doing something right, sent an... — read more

401K contribution suspension in 2020 for 1 year

Is anyone legally trying to recover their full 1 year EM company 401K contribution suspension in 2020-2021 or just accepting the 1000 dollar offer to retirees? I read that a few refinery unions were able to negotiate the full contribution amount. I... — read more

Is it upstream's fault?

I have 20 odd years of experience in designing, operating and optimising downstream facilities. The idea that you can offshore the engineering support that keeps these highly complex, old units running safely is baffling to me. Has someone manager... — read more
