I was let go and did not meet retirement eligibility. Yet, the company sends me “congratulations on my retirement” postcard and emails telling me to check on my retirement benefits.

For those cut, my understanding is the employee got compensated for unused accrued vacation. But what about those retiring near end of November, does employee get paid for unused vacation?

If one retires by November 30, does that employee get a pro-rated bonus check (the math equals 11/12) next March mailed to their home or direct deposited?
