Topics regarding layoffs at Ford

Uninformed media?

Even if the 8,000 number was incorrect, Farley did not correct that number to employees and say it would only be 3,000. Instead, he let this go on for months, hoping people would jump ship. What happened to – We will keep the employees informed... — read more

Transitioning to electric

I am interested in someone who wrote in one of the posts below that some employees tried to move to electric and were "blocked". Is there anyone here who tried to make the transition to electric and failed? Also I would like to know if and how many... — read more

EVs ARE the future

Instead of complaining about it all the time, how about you expand your skill-set so that you can transition to making EVs when the time comes (which, unlike some of you might think, will be much sooner than expected)? I guess that's too much... — read more

So, when is RTO happening?

A lot of talk at the town hall today discussing the need to cut costs. I wasn't with Ford pre-pandemic but know that a complete revisioning of the Dearborn campus was in the works. I just joined Ford and don't live in Michigan. My desire to relocate... — read more

Dear Ford World Headquarters

Dear Ford World Headquarters - your employees have lost all faith and confidence in your leadership. Prove me wrong. P.s. Stop calling us a "Family" company. It's a business, owned by investors, and controlled by the Ford Family. Today's Global... — read more

Do we have more layoffs than our competitors?

Do we have anyone on this board who has experience working for one or more of our competitors. I am curious if we have more frequent cuts and do our cuts go deeper and wider. I've been with Ford for only 18 months and this is no fun. I've survived... — read more

Severance

Has anyone attempted to get a lawyer to review and pursue higher severance?

Loyalty to Ford

Which employee is loyal to Ford or any company? There are no such thing in this corporate world. Everyone is just a number.

We're making the transition too soon

There will be a point in time when EVs are going to be the overwhelming majority, but that future is not nearly as close as some would like to think. In fact, it'll take many decades to reach that point. Too many people are resistant to change and... — read more

How Long Did It Take?

Question for anyone here who has been through the layoff process: How long did it take for you to begin your next role? Did you: Change industries? Change what job you do? Take a pay cut (or make more)? Relocate? I'm still staying positive and... — read more

Is A "Ford Internal Security" team active here?

As a person let go in this layoff, I found the frequent negative and judgmental labeling of those let go as (e.g. "slackers", "deserved to be laid off", "unwilling to change", "difficult to work with", "poor performance", etc.) to be very... — read more

Finally the stressful week ends.

Atleast now the people who were lucky and not laid off, work hard and do the best to deliver the best quality project.

What I am most frustrated about

I am most angry with myself for trusting the manager who assured us on several occasions that we could feel safe. Maybe he did it on purpose, or maybe he really meant it, but that's less important now. My advice is not to trust them at all!

Take the weekend to decompress

This week was hellish for everybody. Instead of spending the weekend wondering "why him and not me" or wondering how bad the future is going to be without some of the people who were let go, try to relax and spend some quality time with your family... — read more

Who did not see this coming?

Longtime Ford worker, lived in Dearborn, worked in auto industry. Ford will always somehow jump from one crisis to another, punishing the workers for whatever reason, reward the anointed few for their vision no matter how right or wrong, Bill Ford... — read more

Lyons and Ford

My last post so why not take a crack at the Lyons. Stop going to their games and supporting the NFLs version of Ford Motor Company. Both have been going out of business since 1957. My exit hopefully saved someone a job that really needed it. I hope... — read more

Just noticed a relationship - Trust

Companies that don’t care about their employees don’t care about the products, customer and suppliers. Look around isn’t that true. Trust works like a circle – supplier – employee – product – dealership customer …

When will it continue?

It's done for now, but how long will it be before the next round? I'm not naive enough to believe that this was it. They can claim all they want that the 8k was not true, but I've been burned by Ford leadership enough times to know not to trust a... — read more

Bill and Jim…lots of luck

You guys really pi---d off some core folks. Some in my peer group got to stay while others were thrown under the EV bus. I consider myself lucky to be gone. Come October 31 thru November 30 we will witness the brain drain of Ford. First +30 yr... — read more

The WARN act, layoffs, and the future of Ford

3000 people across many departments lost their jobs with less than 60 days notice. I wonder if WARN was violated. Warn gives exceptions for sudden, unforeseen business circumstances. The rise of EV was pretty fast, but not unforeseen really. I wonder... — read more

For the laid off people

Company can survive without you. Only you know the answer for “Why Me!”. Atleast try to validate the situation and get an answer for why you. Why didn’t I try to upskill or did I do only the bare minimum. This will change your life forever. This is... — read more

Our leadership exemplifies a Faustian Bargain

You look at Jim and Doug, get a vibe they stood at the cross roads and made a bargain. I mean everyone can see how out of it they both are; deer in the headlights. On the autism spectrum (and not meant derogatorily but literally). Got the same... — read more

Cost cutting and pure greed

Lets see...13 mil for M Amend, 11 mil for D Field, 8 mil for Lawler, 23 mil for Farley. Let's talk cost cutting.
