IBM HCRA

If you have HCRA - healthcare reimbursement account - you pay into that account with every paycheck. Spend the FULL amount before you leave! Buy glasses! Figure out a way to spend it ALL! I was given that advice last year - I left in July, so had... — read more

Very sad day

Very sad day, seeing reports of long-serving employees being tossed out just like that. The hard reality of IT. Who knows what this will trigger with other companies, if gov. does not step in.

Working my first after college job with IBM was the most exciting event of my life. I learned to face reality and become a business person.

Ancient times where IBM use to take care of their employees, it was one big happy company. IBM employees dedicated their life and time with the corporation to make business happen. After the market crash and 9/11 the company dispose their employees... — read more

Hit Hard! You're OUT!

I came back from maternity leave Monday after not working for several months to finding out Wednesday I have 90 days to find a new job or I'm out. Not a great way to welcome me back after having a baby.

A Mouse (a Rat) That Jumped Ship at the Right Time

I fortunately saw the writing on the wall back in 2011 while at a large (unnamed) IBM facility having lunch with 25-30 year IBMers saying "they want to get rid of all of us (expensive) American workers." That and Ginny's "2015 Road Map" signalling... — read more

Question about Labor act

Korean Labor acts restricts very tightly severance action unless a company is almost bankrupted. So, even if someone is assigned to RA pool or failed in PIP, company can't take fire action because of Labor act. Do you have to leave company, if... — read more

I am glad to be one of these layoffs!

After 5.5 years of loyalty, hard work and no pay raise, I am glad to be one of these layoffs! I went to work at IBM thinking I would be secure in a future of employment! I am disgusted in the downhill treatment IBM has given to those of us who aren't... — read more

Layoffs? Stay Relevant!

You need to stay relevant and technology changes all the time. Look around? There is no single company that has loyalty any more and a lot of us float from a co to co and from a project to project – nothing new here. Be careful, trust nobody, make... — read more

CUT from IBM Why? Don't just take the offer.

I would really like to see the rationale used to determine who got CUT this week. My selection seemed rather random and age and/or disability based. Would have been OK with it under the old severance plan but one month after having 30 years of... — read more

I am outta here before MAY

I should have had a clue when my MGR did not even give me a call on my 20 year anniversary at IBM. It is a shame that a once great company is joke to young people ..Ginny has created no future for IBM..with over 68% of the work force retirement ready... — read more

RA'd or Angry? Here's what to do

Go on glassdoor.com and post an anonymous review of your time working at IBM. Don't forget to rate the CEO (Ginny Rometty). Get a job with another company and make sure they understand what is going on inside of IBM. Use your first amendment rights... — read more

My Farewell Note - Leaving 5/31/2016

Leaving on 5/31, here is my bye-bye note to the execs, I know for sure some of them are following this forum: Benefits: Benefits are bad and they certainly lag behind the industry. Do something about this, people care about this more than anything... — read more

Bye, bye, I/T

In a decade or two, we will see through the foolishness. Bought an AM/FM radio lately or a Tube TV? I/T industry will be there too. Indian I/T workers will soon find their jobs being off-shored too.

Analytics hit hard

After 26 years and with skills in high demand I get the axe as well. Wasn't my performance of course.... But I sometimes wonder what those managers are thinking...

IBM's internal hiring is pretty much frozen.

Right now, it pretty much takes an act of God to find a position inside once you are RA'd. Those folks who are RA'd are in an accounting column used to report reduced spending. The new hires are placed in a different accounting column. Anyone who is... — read more

What a bummer

RA'ed from Dublin, OH former ECM group. My manager said it had nothing to do with my performance. I've been here 3.5 years, straight out of college. I truly wanted to be a forever IBMer.
