Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Remote working !

Other financial/non financial institutions have started adopting the remote working culture .I am sure BNY would take a longer time to adapt to this new normal .

Are they going to break the 220+year old legacy and start working remotely to utilise office spaces and reduce the overhead costs like Cafeteria , Office rents, Electricity and other locations with free transport etc globally and would this be the new vision ?

It's not the Technology organization that is bad, it's the senior leadership. This "greenfield" joke was a completely botched initiative, spearheaded by know-nothing executives who only understand technology at a buzzword level. The top heavy nature of the company paired with medieval, fear-driven leadership tactics means engineers can't innovate or focus on real problems and must instead kowtow to whatever pet ego project their boss's boss's boss dreamed up in the shower that morning.

This bank should remove the IT Department altogether and give it to actual software companies, wasting money on the things they don't know how to make it work. Burning example is Greenfield project. No one even know the essence of greenfield, how can they make it work. They are on Hybrid cloud and saying it a #GREENFIELD project, total joke.

That's how Wework and Regus make money . Yes BNY Mellon takes longer time to adapt . Good idea to save maintenance and other administrative costs . The Board needs to put on their thinking hats and discuss ideas and I don't see that happening for next 50 years and by that time we would already evolve and move on .

101B will be a COVID-19 Virus factory if we go back to those collaborative workspaces. True that we raised concerns of germ spread back in 2018. What a waste of money and possibly lives.

Thinking of all the money invested in the open concept "collaborative" workspaces in multiple locations. Many commented on the germ factories these spaces would become long before COVID 19. Will these office spaces continue? There are hardly 6 inches apart from people, never mind 6 feet. Another example of not a good use of money by BNYM.
