Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

We can't do jobs of five people

Since the layoffs in 2015, they have been stretching some team members to their very limits while firing others to save on labor. One person can't do the jobs of five people well.

This is what annoys me the most, and it keeps happening. People get fired or laid off and their work is just automatically dumped on those left. Stores are falling apart because of this and are also getting bad reputation with customers. And yet it keeps happening over and over again. I was hoping something would change with Amazon, but I guess I was too optimistic...

once upon a time...

Whole Foods was a company where you could have a "career". Those days are long gone, friends. If you are looking for a long term career, it is time for you to look elsewhere. Go back to school. Learn new skills. The Internet has changed retail, and many other occupations, forever, and it is time for everyone to understand that.

Yes, it IS sad! WF used to be like a family for many people. Now it is just a job. The kind of job one takes to get to somewhere else in life. A stepping stone...NOT a career...A way to get through school...

Not trying to be a Donny Downer, just trying to get you all to face facts.

Good luck everyone

I have been in multiple stores there is allot of just hanging around on all teams. I’m not saying it doesn’t have its moments but let’s face it a monkey could do most of the things at WF.

From a bogus job fair hiring 6000 to a hiring freeze in less than 30 days, what a freaking publicity stunt that was.....We can’t even make labor on a severely understaffed team. I cringe when I walk by the 2 checkout lanes during lunch rush and the lines are 10-12 deep with disgruntled customers... Then the backpack Regional or OTS Global crew comes in and they wanna freaking walk & talk all day, like I don’t have pallets of product to throw, hundreds of green dots & clipboards to worry about....what a joke! Someone got it all wrong....or maybe this was exactly their plan, to stress us the “F” out so we quit, either way...the customers aren’t coming back, you lose.

If you can't do the job they will find someone who can or replace you with automation.

According to what I have read about Amazon, you will need to do the work of 10 people, not 5, once the Amazon people make their presence known.

Who thought the Amazon deal was going to be a good thing?

S---ers

Maybe you should write to the CEO and express your concerns.

It’s retail go in do the best you can then go home, the way things are going now is to try to drive people out. If they quit on there own from being stressed out they don’t need to pay people off with severance when that time comes. We are all fighting a losing battle just accept it and look for something better.
