Who actually got laid off?

I work in wells in deep water in the GoM and I figured we would layoff a bunch of people but I don’t know anyone who did. So who actually got laid off???

D&I doubters - the SJWs have been unleashed!

After the disastrous town hall last Monday ( https://www.thelayoff.com/t/1btHWZTV ) the management (EV) made the decision to clarify his position on the ever so unpopular D&I, and its next iteration - DEI (or is it DIE W M?). Following his... — read more

Great One Subsurface town hall on Monday!

There was a great town hall with the One Subsurface EVP (EV)! After the boring prepared highlights, the meeting promptly derailed with the top Menti question on D&I which was fumbled by EV (as per his usual M.O.), and the discussion never got back to... — read more

Want to work at Shell?

Be prepared to give up the work-life balance (actually, if you are single and have no life you're going to feel right at home,) do several jobs for the price of one as people leave and nobody replaces them, forget about job security, and work for... — read more

I'm surprised

And I don't understand why many say they weren't surprised by the news of a possible sale of Permian? It never even crossed my mind that they could sell Permian.

Has uncertainty ever been greater?

I always wanted to work at Shell and I was happy when I got a job without too much experience from before. I knew that working in this industry meant a great deal of insecurity, but I could not have imagined that jobs would be this insecure. I'm... — read more

What's the best option?

I was thinking of applying at Chevron, they have some openings in my area, but looking at their page here I'm no longer sure that'd be a good idea. They seem to have the kind of toxic environment I'd rather stay away from. But are there any O&G... — read more

A lot less layoffs then last year

I can only speak from the perspective of my work location but there are a lot less layoffs than there were last spring. Is the company really done with layoffs for the time being or are we in for a bigger wave after the summer?

Supplementary Round jobs list

why is the supplementary round jobs list so large? are these real jobs or just token jobs to make people think they have a chance?

"People have to use less of our product"

beyond laughable that the Shell CEO BVB actually spouts such stuff and still keeps his job. Beyond the entertainment value of such musings, how do you think this effects shareholder and employee value (rhetorical question not really asking an... — read more

This will not be easy to fix

Upper management has dug a deep ho-e that will be tough to get out of. Not impossible but very challenging. In my opinion the BG deal was a disaster that we still haven't recovered from. Our debt almost tripled after we acquired BG and we still... — read more

How much room is left for proficient employees today?

When it comes to nepotism at Shell, it’s a very old thing in this company, but in the past, despite nepotism, there was still room here for proficient employees. Unfortunately, it seems to me that the biggest problem now is that the old buddy club... — read more
