Q2 disaster?
A couple of my friends in finance and accounting are saying that Q2 earnings are going to be one of the worst on 8/18. Has anyone else heard this rumor from high up on the chain?
Staples is moving to India!
Got word from friends who still work there, that they've been sending out a manager to India. He's been twice now for extended periods. What does this mean? That call center in Colorado will be shuttered sooner rather than later so that they can pay... — read more

Wow, what a deal! Just another reason for our customers to hate us. We push more random crap than a garbage compactor while at the same time changing policies that devalue our customer base. What an amazing time to be a staples lackey.

HR COORDINATOR
Looks like heavy staff/retail reductions following the official Q2 announcement. Company is on dome very hard times and I was told by regional leadership to find something more reliable.
Noteworthy
Just got word from my friend in finance that we are posting a horrible period, furthermore to ensure future solvency closures and cuts will be warranted and need quick implementation.

Unionization will help, Staples is fearful, hence their recent brainshark which sounded more like Soviet propaganda than actual information. Collective bargaining would help with unfair wages, poor healthcare, and the 25 hour cap. We have so much... — read more

Ready To Go
I despise my job at Staples. It's difficult because I am not ungrateful for the opportunities I have been given, but rather sad by the direction and management style of the company. I recognize that my future in niche retail is facing its... — read more

85 slated closures
3rd party just got a call for an additional 85 slated closures that they'll have to process, they were specifically told to not tell anyone.
On may 20 they will begin the DM reductions. Stores can expect major cuts to operating expenses, and any of the few perks left revoked.
Thing like .56 per mile will be reduced, obviously hours, and discretionary positions, I.e. we dont need techs if we have a manager and the Matrix.
Anyone else losing their furniture department?
My store is getting rid of furniture, but will keep chairs. The furniture pad will be converted to a whole section of dollar days.
