If you’re over 40: The Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA) of 1967 protects workers 40 and older. In addition, if you’re in that age category and you’re part of a group layoff, you’re also protected by the Older Workers Benefit Protection Act. This gives you 21 days to consider any severance offer, and another seven days to revoke your agreement.

If you’re part of a minority group: Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibits companies from making employment decisions based on race/color, religion, s-x, pregnancy or national origin.

If you have a disability: The Americans with Disability Act (ADA) of 1990 prohibits employment discrimination against those with disabilities.

What is the package now? I heard rumors of it being reduced.

Of note to... "If you get laid off by Bny, part of the packet you get discloses the age and salary grade levels of those selected to be staff actioned and those that were not let go."

I only received the list of those IN MY GROUP let go, which – as you'd expect from Chuckie – weren't technically ALL my group, which conveniently made me THE ONLY ONE to depart – yet others within the broader group elsewhere we let go that same day. Just a word of caution...

WJT- all the people on the list of age and salary grades were getting laid off the same day as I did. Or they could be in a different location but still the same department. You could try to disseminate it but chances are they get an hour or 2 hours heads up.

Just like they tried to ban working from home but almost got sued due to union workers. Just like they misappropriately classified analyst and that got those analyst an average 7k in the class action lawsuit settlement. Seems like you aren’t aware that BNY works backwards. They don’t care about underlying details just the number so they miss everything.

I doubt the age spread is something they would violate, given the consequences. They know where the line is, and they get as close as possible without crossing it.

Really??? So the person being laid off probably has the most information on how many people will get laid off?
