Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Leave on my own, or wait to get cut?

I understand that none of these two options are ideal, especially given the fact that I don’t have a new job lined up or anything. On the other hand, it’s getting harder and harder for me to continue working at this place, and not just in terms of being overworked but also in terms of the toxic atmosphere that has developed at the company. Getting a few more paychecks sound OK, but a fresh start sounds a whole lot better.

Try transferring to a different group. Otherwise, yes, start looking outside the company. Absolutely do not leave without having something else lined up. It just does not make any Financial or professional sense to leave without something else lined up. I left bny after interviewing at various companies for 5 months. My job search was very slow and calculated. I did not just want to jump at the first opportunity that was given to me. I took my time and found the right position and I've never been happier. My old department at bny completely turned on each other because everyone was trying to save themselves. It was a horrible toxic environment, everyone was out to get everyone else. I'm so glad to be out of there. Good luck!

Do not quit unless you have another job. Otherwise wait till they let you go. Dont work for the bank let the bank work for you.
