Whole Foods to cut health-care benefits for 1,900 part-time employees starting next year

Whole Foods will be cutting medical benefits for up to 1,900 workers starting Jan. 1, 2020.
In the past, workers needed to work at least 20 hours a week to qualify for the health-care plan. Now employees will need to work at least 30 hours.

So the richest man in the world can't afford health insurance for his employees. How wonderfully capitalist of him.

I've worked in a few supermarkets and WFM is the only one that allows people to work 20 in one dept and 20 in another to be able to be full time. I bet that will stop soon as well.

PT20 insurance is a joke. You may as well not have any insurance if you are PT20.
Most PTers can find better coverage on their own

This is why TLs have been told to hire PT as opposed to PT20 for the last several months. Less people that will be denied benefits next year. Global wanted this to smell as nice as possible when the press picked it up. Love that they made sure to remind everybody about the precious discount.

Honestly I dont even know if this matters that much in the grand scheme of things. That PT insurance was terrible. There's much better coverage elsewhere for PT employees.
