Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Layoffs will be company-wide

Layoffs will happen company wide. Not just one department will be affected. It will be all departments.

Very much this. People need to stop speculating and wondering if their department or location will be spared. You need to consider an option that literally no place is safe and act accordingly. Don't let something this obvious catch you unaware.

Understaffed with “doers” and overstaffed with “leaders”. Despite span and layer reduction 8 layer chains are not unusual. Above the chains the top swells malignantly.

Who really are the leaders? Not level after level of bureaucrats. We all know true leaders; the indispensable people who care, always help and share their vast knowledge. None of this is measured, but we know them, we support them and increasingly we miss more and more of them.

December 2nd Monday after Thanksgiving the next wave of layoffs will happen. This is guaranteed. Professional Procedure writers are supposed to be starting soon. Once they are done. Good Luck.

Not all teams are understaffed. The workers are over worked yes. But we have so much middle MGMT and project managers and planners and admin. To be real. They could cut a dozen or more middle staff and mgmt in my Dept and we will meet client deliverables just fine. But the trouble is they keep cutting the real workers and oddly enough, promoting others. It makes no sense what so ever. Anyways. I don't care if I am laid off. This BE strategy to get people to quit is demoralizing and no raises and constant outsourcing. The overall moral at this place s—s. Good job MGMT. Go ahead and make the cuts. Non of us want to be unemployed. But in many ways we really don't care. Just hurry up and get it over with.

I see that happening but what I don't understand is who will be picking up the work. Teams are already understaffed.
