These are for an upcoming shopping app for customers. Based on planograms it will tell customers where items are in the store. They will talk into it and say "where is the quinoa" and the app will tell the what aisle
We got ours... and they put them on the end caps, so we have no idea which aisle is supposed to be which. they couldn't put them in the aisle itself? Sheesh...
Some stores already had numbers. Look at the store in this news article pic:

Ours are already falling apart. Why did they install cardboard numbers?
Having no aisle numbers has p-ss-d off so many customers.
Customer: "Just tell me what number aisle it's in".
Me: "Its in aisle two but we don't have aisle numbers. I can show you where it is"
Customer: "Just tell me what aisle its in"
Me: "It's in the second aisle, next to the bread on the bottom shelf"
Customer: "The second aisle from the left or the right?"
Me: "It depends which door you came in"
Customer: "Ughhh, just show me then"
We got them this week. Also we are getting info screens by the time clock and a few other new tech things. Aisle numbers are a no brainer. Why did we fight them so long? Not every customer wants to be escorted to the other side of the store when they have lots to pick up from here to there. It's so much easier to say Aisle 2, instead of it's the 2nd aisle on the right after you pass the support column that comes after the dairy aisle. It's also nice that the numbers are visible from any angle. Store maps and aisle numbers and 360 scans of the store are also going to be online so a customer can find where an item is while they sit on the toilet at home before they even come in or be able to direct personal shoppers to the right spot. It will of course be super helpful to Amazon shoppers.
So true:
- Be kind to yourself....no one else will.
As a customer, I Do not need anyone to walk the to the product - I can find it on my own, just point me in the right direction. Isle 2, mid section on the right will do it...
I think aisle numbers are terrific. Reduces stress on other dept tms.
Not much good customer service going on anymore ,so when asked where a product is , just say aisle 2 or 8 whatever it is and finish what you're doing in your dept. No more going across the store because the guest can't find that dept tm. Be kind to yourself....no one else will.
It took four or so years, but we got them. Or do you mean the ugly Walmarty section signs?
