Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

When is it really worth leaving?

Let's be realistic. I’m not saying BNY Mellon is an ideal place to work, far from it, but such a place certainly doesn’t exist. I made a rushed decision to resign and now I regret it because I went through the great stress that each new beginning brings and in fact I didn't change anything in particular. Here where I am now the problems are very similar. Sometimes I want to go back to the old.
Downvotes are expected, but I am just telling my truth, so that people wouldn’t make the same mistake and to think over and over again if it is really worth leaving. There are many who persuade others to get out of here as soon as possible, but some of them end up regretting their decision later.

I think it’s important to interview the next place for you. ...not just take first offering or what seems good, but instead really find out what you want out of the next place especially after having such a negative experience. I know many people who really enjoy their work culture. Not every place has a culture like so many departments within this company have. There are companies that have managers that actually treat employees respectfully and professionally. Their employees feel challenged, but not overwhelmed. They feel part of a team. They feel heard. They feel like their contributions are valued. It’s as much a company interviewing you as it is you interviewing them.

The grass is always greener. My boss from over 30 years ago used to say this. You may hate this place but you may hate the nes place even more. I used to sit and hear some POS bosses sweet talking interviewees. I used to think that’s what you could face out there looking for a job

If we only had that choice to stay or go these days anymore.
Sometimes, the choice isn't yours.
