Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

It really isn't that difficult to comprehend when & when not to use the reply all function, but for some reason BNY Mellon is full of mo--ns that lack such comprehension skills.

If the company would have adopted a policy to automatically rate these mo--ns as needs improvement, perhaps this company wouldn't suck as bad as it does.

I hope I am the next person on the list to get displaced, but the smart thing would be to use displacements to get rid of these mo--ns.

Outlook even gives a warning message when there are a high number of recipients, and yet it is still a monthly occurrence to have multiple people use reply all to say they got an email by mistake.

PleaseMakeItStop,
Ahhh. I sure miss them! That was a whole new level of stupidity.
But what about the geniuses who don't know how to mute their phone in a conference call?
Then you have those "holier than thou" id--ts who schedule status meetings with dozens of applications wasting everyone's time waiting for their turn? Because it would take a little more of the organizer's precious time reaching out to each application individually

woq+1aPocGDP, I’m not even referring to those type of scenarios. It’s the type where it clearly went out to the wrong distribution list(s), and the id--ts click reply all asking to be removed.

And then there are usually a few that reply all telling people to stop clicking on reply all.

Sometimes I get curious and check the org chart to see what level these id--ts are at, and then I’m left wondering how they advanced so far in the company.

But the bigger issue is that we use email so much to communicate. That's how it was done in 1999. Much of the communication could be totally eliminated with a little streamlining. And many emails could be replaced with other collaboration tools. I remember our group getting a bunch of emails about updating our info on a confluence or sharepoint page with info from the page copied into the email. Not only was the info in the email outdated as soon as they hit send, it clogged up a whole lot of inboxes with communications that should have been done by tagging certain individuals in the page.

It comes from a culture of being micro managed. I can't tell you how many times I've replied to only the send then have my boss ask me to follow up on it. Or have someone else reply for me. Or have someone else on our team ping me about it. Or someone on another team ask if our group followed up on it.
