Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Worst company I ever worked for in my 38 years of employment prior to retirement

I gave BNYMellon a chance despite their terrible reputation and found to my annoyance that everything said about them was not only true but was much worse than I had ever experienced anywhere else (except maybe working minimum wage jobs in my 20's).

I thought depending on the department and manager I might miss the worse of their reputation (I didn't). I didn't even make it for 3 years until they laid me off despite being the top performer in my department (it was all dollar based on my salary. My manager fought to keep me and was shot down by his id--t boss). Within a few months the entire department quit, probably due to the way I was treated and their attempt to lie about why I was let go.

It will never get better working for them (I was out the door in 2017 and from the reviews here it has gotten even worse).

I realize that many people don't major in banking and finance because they want to help humanity. But the "kick 'em when their down" mentality of labelling the person who got laid off as someone that's sh*tty and deserved to be laid off is pretty short-sighted. Now being almost being 60, I have the luxury of still knowing some of those formerly young people who piled on years ago and said the laid off person deserved what was coming to them. Fast forward to those same formerly young people who are now close to retirement age. A lot of those same people are getting laid off and the current young people are piling on and putting them down. I distinctly remember while working for another corporation thirty years ago, I was volunteered to assist a laid off person that was close to retirement age load up their desk contents and carry them to their car. After thanking me, he said, "Don't get old..." Please remember that all you young superstars of now.

I suspect the department found new opportunities and can careless the way they treated you. In the scary times we look out for ourselves and do not focus on disgruntle employees who most likely deserved to be fired.
