What do you do when you have so much to do and you don’t have enough time?
This has become a huge source of stress for me and it used to happen that I have very little time to do the job even before, but now it happens so frequently that I just can’t get everything done on time. Maybe it’s time to look for a new job.
@dgic+1aTE9CeF, if you think Pittsburgh is an afterthought, try being in Nashville, the town that senior management has publically said has "no talent." Interesting that they trust their main production data center to a bunch of us no-talent hicks.
The poster that said do what you can pretty much nailed it. That pretty much describes my situation. I’m leaving after almost 20 years. I always thought I would ride it out here until I retired or got the sub package, whatever came first. But another opportunity came my way and decided i was tired of having more work dumped on me from my colleagues being laid off with no incentive whatsoever. Furthermore, Pittsburgh is an afterthought to most of our senior management and there is little to no opportunity for growth here unless you meet a certain demographic that our senior management is targeting for growth or you just kiss a— left and right, neither of which I do. So on to my new opportunity. It’s nice to feel valued again. I haven’t felt that way in years. A 20% bump doesn’t hurt either. My point? If I can get out and get ahead so can you.
That’s what nights and weekends are for.

At this point, just do what you can. I recently found an opportunity somewhere else and am at least happy I left this company. Even before that, I stopped giving a sht after getting piled on with work after work after this d-mb company laid off my colleagues. One person is not sustainable to take on an entire workload meant for a team. My suggestion is, stop giving a sht, do what you can, bark back at your manager/sup that you can only do so much if they pest you. Who cares about making deadlines when the incompetent senior management axes staff.
No how much cr-p people talk about "multi-tasking" you really can only work on one thing effectively at a time...that is true for me, anyway. Whenever I get assigned URGENT work on top of other URGENT work I'm already working on....it's very simple: I drop the previous URGENT project and work on the new one. Takes more effort to resume the older project once I finish the new one, but who cares? I'll jump through the hoops, but I'll do it at my own pace.
It’s NEVER going to get better. It will only get worse.
