Annual employee survey is out

I just completed my annual employee survey and how much attention do they pay attention to the responses.

I never understood that. No where I have worked before or after this place did that. One time the manager had a 1 hour call lobbying for good reviews (and he talked every minute of that 1 hour). I thought you can be unprofessional 364 days a year and waste everyone’s time with a lobbying call on the 365th day or you can just be normal 365 days a year. Problem solved. They must mean something if management is so paranoid about bad reviews that they go to so much trouble to try to prevent them.

The result of every survey seems to be yet more "all hands" meetings and mandatory learning.

Oh my ...where to start. 1st let me say that I've been here sense before any employee surveyexisted. 2nd let me say that management by survey is a pi-s poor way to manage a company, region, market, team, whatever. It is the bank trying to replace what good old fashion know your employees used to provide. We do the same thing with customers....more questions but fewer human interactions.

Beyond that other responses are correct. I've been coached on how to respond to "certain" questions, I've had mgmt go on a search and destroy mission based on writing style. I've also been that manager that reads the verbatim and happen to know my employees well enough to not only determine who provided the comment but to have expected it in advance.

Response are reviewed and comments are read and generalized to some degrees before engaging smaller team units. At that point, a plan of attack will be created and sent in to uppers, who consolidate that and in turn send to uppers, etc, Most will never get any attention. Many will get pushed to the side at the team level because the team can't address it. (e.g. your manager can't fix the fact that you don't like the companies benefits package...and the company isn't going go fix it so no point expecting anything). If you're lucky something you weighed in on that need fixing will get attention. But whether or not it will get the right attention is the question. E.g. if you respond negatively to "communications are handled well in may area". and you meant "whoa...stop the inundation", they have no way to understand that....so they may very well increase the number and way communications are delivered so you get the opposite of what you wanted.

I ripped the effin organization. Everything leadership says is BS...I'm liberal and even this bank is too liberal for my liking

They are pushing hard to eliminate myWork entirely. Don't get your hopes up.

my manager tried to figure out who wrote the comments by their writing style. And it was so funny because the one he was trying to figure out came from me! this year i told them they need to advertise the MyWork program at the same time they call people back to the office. I want to have an option other than return to the office. I heard MyWork was sunsetting. They need to revitalize it because we are all working from home already.

A coworker sat close to someone that received the results from HR and openly complained that they didn’t provide information to identify the associate, so to some degree it is anonymous

Also it sounded like they could cherry pick and frame the data in a more positive manner

Still waiting for them to fix the things I complained about 5 surveys ago! Maybe I'll just copy/paste same answers each year. Seems about what it's worth. Why do they even have a survey every year any way? especially when nothing changes!

Do it, they pay attention. Just wait until the last day. They will hound you. Ignore it, they always did something super sh**ty in the last two weeks

I only rate and never leave comments. It is supposed to be anonymous, but I just don't trust it.
