Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

BNY Mellon CANNOT require you to get vaccinated in the US

Anyone who tells you otherwise is lying. ALL American citizens have the right to decide for themselves wether or not the COVID 19 vaccine is right for them. Furthermore, BNY Mellon employees have the right to decline being vaccinated without repercussions such as fear of job loss or performance issues or any other kind of workplace discrimination

Funny that there is a reference to a peanut allergy for this topic.

According to the CDC, those with peanut allergies can receive the vaccine. However, those individuals must be observed for 15 to 30 minutes to make sure they do not have a bad reaction. If they do, they need to get a shot of epinephrine. How about a big F U. I know several people with such allergies that have no intention of getting the vax for a virus with a 99.5% survival rate.

You people that believe the non-vaxed are selfish can GFY.

“Personal preference” as per the ignorant reply below is not science Measles was almost eradicated by mandating the vaccine until people like u stepped in with political nonsense and misinformation

That’s pretty funny about the snickers comment. I’m one of the poorer people on my floor and I used to bring peanut butter sandwiches all the time. No one said anything, but I’ll be damned if they take away my most affordable lunch options.

Once again, those who claim to follow science and be open minded about individual preferences actually ignore science and think they can boss everyone else around.

Considering the fact everyone got the email saying you cannot ask someone if they’re vaccinated obviously means they’re not requiring anyone to be. They want people back in office. And if they make that a requirement , half the staff will be staying home including myself. If you want to get vaccinated then it’s your option. It’s also not anyone’s business if you are or aren’t .

You're not allowed to eat snickers in the office because the person sitting 10 feet from you might have a peanut allergy.

@7cyz+1aZLmS3v, It's you paranoid germaphobes who need to calm down. If YOU are vaccinated, covid isn't out to get you. I'm vaccinated and could care less if the person sitting next to me is.

You seem angry, calm down. The world isn't out to get you. Things will be okay. Breathe.

YOU get vaccinated then YOU don't have to worry about the person sitting next to you. How hard is it to comprehend that?

This is a really insensitive comparison -->

AIDS is transmissible by se-ual contact or through infected blood. There is an extremely low risk of contracting the AIDS virus by sharing office space. COVID is easily and highly transmissible.

There are workplace policies to prevent discrimination against someone with AIDS. I'm certain companies will, likewise, not tolerate discrimination against someone who shares they are COVID positive. You would, for example, violate policy whether you ask someone if they have AIDS or COVID.

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has already weighed in, holding that, employers have the right to require their employees to get one of the approved vaccines.

The employer must offer medical and religious exemptions. Businesses have a legal and ethical obligation to provide a safe environment. Requiring vaccinations is the best way to do that.

There are currently lawsuits going on to ensure that any school work business that requires their students or employees to get the vaccine as a condition of employment can be held accountable should there be an injury due to the vaccine

Further. Should the employer than require proof of a negative aids test? Why just limited to Covid?

Yes they can require it. If you chose not to then they can terminate your employment.

You and I may not like it, but legally they can require vaccinations. Same as the universities and same as BNYM requiring you to wear that tracking device on your badge.

Please don't spread misleading information that will get employees in hot water for no reason.

They can require you to go back into the office though. Get ready for 5 days per week.
