Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Why stay?

I'm finding fewer and fewer reasons not to leave this place for good every single day. What is there to stay for? We are overworked but also underpaid, we have poor team support and lousy managers, if we want a promotion, we have to change who we are and turn into a bu-t-kissing sycophant...the list goes on and on.

Just remember that not all managers are lousy. I know that I am not. I work at least as hard if not harder than any of my direct reports, doing my own job and theirs because our team is so short-staffed. We're all working 50+ hour weeks just to stay afloat. I protect them from upper management as much as I can. And even if my own upper management is toxic towards me, my guys repay me by being loyal and appreciative of the fact that I actually do care about them, and try to make the lousy situation we are all in more bearable.

For my first 15 years there I would be ready to quite about 3 or 4 times a year. The last few years I just I quit worrying about things and just did what I could do and collected a paycheck. Now they're going to pay me for almost a year for doing nothing and NYS is giving me an extra $804 dollars a week.

The only reason to stay would be if you cannot find something else or you are close to retiring. I can't think of a single good thing about this company.
Hopefully opportunities will come up once the country opens.
