Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

It’s our fault

The reality is, until employees quit working extra hours, taking “promotions “without extra pay, continue to make themselves available morning, evening, night and weekends, management is going to continue taking advantage & treating us this way… With no respect.
They can send all of the emails out they want about respect, health and safety, mental health, work life balance, but actions speak louder than hollow words.

This company does NOT- I repeat NOT care about it's employees.
Show some respect and stop saying that.

This is a good point. You get what you accept, not what you deserve. The key is to organize.

I work a lot of hours but im okay with it because I don’t have to worry about a commute. I check emails on days off and late hours of the night. That’s basically going to stop come September. Meetings before 8 and after 5 will be declined.

Absolutely true. Raising stories with the press / media can also help…

100%. I thought I was benefiting myself answering emails and calls after my “regularly scheduled hours”, at night and on weekends. In turn I was not and shows how little the company cares about their employees. We need to show them we deserve a work life balance as a benefit, and not just a part of an exercise because of the pandemic.
