Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

Toxic Management?

Anyone else have a manager that makes you feel inadequate every single day? How about a manager that yells at you and tells you are a pessimist when you are just trying to explain a process their manager knows nothing about? This person right here is dealing with it. 17 years of service and also a manager myself. Not a great feeling at all. I will admit this is the first manager in my 17 years that has ever made me feel like this, but since the day I walked into this depts door, I have literally been drowning with no support from my manager. The last 3 months of my career have been the absolute worst. I wake up with heart palpitations because of the stress and the fear of being in trouble. It shouldn't be this way. Why don't I leave you ask?....well transferring to another dept is almost impossible, if i were to be laid off i would 34 weeks of severance and tbh their benefits are good. But at what cost do I continue to put up with this. Along with having a chronic medical condition, it makes it so much worse. I would NEVER treat anyone on my team or anyone at all the way this manager makes me feel.

I had a manager do the same thing to me and finally she went on intermittent leave due to health issues and her direct reports were taken away from her. She finally was laid off recently. I guess that is karma for her.

HR is worthless they only work with management and against you. I would first notify HR that you will file a complaint with the EEOC. When you do that they will all of sudden start working for you. Bank of America has a long history of a hostile work environment, discrimination, and se-ual harrassment. They only respond when you start to go outside the organization to address the problem. This company is a total f-ing joke.

Just ignore your manager, stop trying to explain stuff to them and wait them out. I had that for FOUR years. (I know, I'm a su---r, but I'd be damned if I was going to let her push me out without severance. She did eventually move to another group and life is much better now.) Meanwhile, set up job alerts on the career sight with broad parameters for anything you can remotely do and look around. Look externally, too. There are TONS of pi-s-poor managers at BofA. HR won't care. (They work for Management, not employees.) Not worth your sacrificing your health and self-esteem. Hang in there. Head down, mouth shut if you are really set on staying.

Talk to HR. There are many and you have to speak up.

HR won’t do anything. Your manager will be notified and you will pay for it. Sorry to hear you are going thru that.

Take care of your health, they aren’t worth it. All we can do at this point is vote with our feet and exit.
