After 16 years with BNY Mellon I was laid off in April. To say I was devastated is an understatement. It took me a few weeks to get out of the emotional rollercoaster ride I was on due to this. After over a month of searching I’ve found a position that I think I will enjoy. I hope to one day look back at that place and not feel such resentment. I doubt that day will ever come, though.

You got a job so soon (which is great) but you left all that supplemental pay on the table...at 16 years you should’ve had 32 weeks full pay (34 if they still wound up)....plus unemployment... it would be hard for me to pass that up...
Some get over it sooner than others but you will get over it, just give it time. I was over it the minute I found out I was let go. Hated working with one of the team associates. This company loves the suck ups who are willing to sc--w their coworkers over. What really bothered me was the preferential treatment for coworkers who did hardly any work and got the raises and bonuses others like me deserved. Think of it this way, if you were let go they did you a favor. Move forward and find a place of employment worthy of your skills, hard work and loyalty.
People I worked were so bad and fake, I was already detached and when I got lay-off I hardly felt that I worked for that company. Honestly, I could never been a human working for this company. Mostly my team are from India and South India a place called Chennai. Very cold people born in hot place. I am glad people like that help me lad the company and job I love - Thank you
I have been laid off by different firms few times when I was young. I am never emotionally attached to a firm. I was exchanging my time and effort for money. I only trust the money in my saving and checking account. I don't care if BNY goes bankrupt tomorrow. As long as, I received my last paycheck from BNY. Basically never be emotional attached to big corporations. I might be emotionally attached to a family business, but definitely not big corporations.
Our journey in any company carries with them both good and bad experiences. For what it is worth, time is a great tool to heal bad memories.
Congratulations. Very soon it will be a distant memory, you will be shocked how soon you will feel detached.
Best of luck in your new role.
You will forget this place in moments - except take a look back for anything they owe you.
They still owe you. Just don't own you.
This Company breaks your Spirit . There are so many who has to start all over again once they reach a certain age and get laid off.Their experience will not matter anymore because you have put years to the bank doing just transactional job , running a processing centre and had a limited scope to enhance our skill set .
