Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

Back to office

If I see the CEO make another comment about how we need to be in the office for spontaneous conversation around the water cooler, I will scream! In my department, if we take too long to get water or use the restroom or doing anything away from our desk, we get in trouble! Explain to me why do I need to be in the office when I can barely have any spontaneous conversation about work ideas with my peers?? D-mbest excuse ever!

Having to be forced back into work when everything has been working perfectly at home makes me want to rip out my hair. I mean, it’s so utterly pointless that I don’t even know what planet I’m on. The people that are dying to go back in are they people that have more flexibility anyway. They’re the ones coming in Late and taking every Friday “to work from home”. The fact we can’t just be treated like adults and respected as workers is just plain effed up. Jamie Dimon said people hate commuting but so what, lol. I think I read he comes into the office like twice a week. Idk why BM has to follow suit. Why can’t he be an innovator and think outside the box. It’s just BS. Isn’t there a way to organize so our voices can be heard? I discussed it in this years survey, how flexibility and a hybrid system is what works best. That way everyone is happy-ish.

How about the folks who spend half the day taking smoke/vape breaks?

It’s ego, they want to have benefits that their employees don’t have so they can feel more privileged

Hilarious watching BM talk on the news about all employees being back in the office after labor day. One Director on my old team was the "3-day a week" guy, and that was BEFORE Covid-19! So useless! You can bet he's been doing nothing at home for the past year, unlike other people who actually DO the work and DON'T need to be in the office. A lot pf people that need to be in the office require a baby sitter, or, just get by on the fancy suit / fake smile / schmooze BS but don't actually know anything. They want people back in the office for the September round of layoffs - so they can at least tell people in person and no longer get slammed for the zoom call layoff delivery.

Amen. Way too many people use the office setting as a way to grow their cliche, do about 30% of their job and leave their work for someone else to clean up. The office setting is gross, nerve racking, loud and stressful. More productive at home! And happier. I don’t need to see people I work with to be able to do my job. I am employed to do a job. Not forced to listen to nonstop chatter all day from disrespectful people.

How about tracking how many HOURS are WASTED "at the watercooler" (whatever that is) instead? The only "conversations" at work are GOSSIPING about co-workers and b****ing about Management.

I get way more work done at home without the constant interruptions.

Why on earth would he put a stake in the ground on this issue of all things? Think how much we could improve the climate if 200,000 people stopped spending 2+ needless hours in a car all day...
