Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Where are these people going?

I am glad that my dearest colleagues did not choose to leave, but at the same time I am very sorry for those whom I know have decided to leave even though they have no plan. And there are not just a few of them.
I hope that everyone will succeed, but at the same time I wonder where these people will go when now almost everyone wants only vaccinated workers? Maybe somewhere outside the banking sector, because I don't know any bank where vaccination is not mandatory or will soon become mandatory?

@5xzp, not sure how they could possibly look at the output for IT people. We wasted days upon days preparing to go live with changes in 2020 only to be told at the last minute we couldn't put them in. Even the simplest changes that could easily be backed out.

I love my life working at my home office and applied for a remote position somewhere else. Very happy about my decision!!!! You can do this also. It's not difficult to post your resume and get interviewed via Teams. It's actually better than driving or taking the bus somewhere to be interviewed. I am glad I took my chances. No regrets.

I'm likely to be terminated for not volunteering my personal medical information to my employer. It's not the place of the Federal government nor BNYM to force that decision onto employees while threatening their lively hood. The negative externalities just aren't there to warrant this authoritarian attitude. The vaccine is EXTREMELY effective and there are much improved therapeutics. BNYM asking you to commute the office now represents a more significant risk to your health if you're vaccinated. Those who are unvaccinated, I hope, understand and accept the personal risk they are taking but to each his own.

Those business who have no requirements/ weekly testing will be able to get top talent at a reasonable cost. The Federal mandate is clearly unconstitutional and will be struck down. Even those of you who agree with the mandate in this specific case must ask themselves.. Do I agree that in all cases (because now it will have become president that it is acceptable), the Federal Government and/or my employer should be able to mandate a medical decision to me? Think about that deeply while imagining the political party you disagree with is in power.

Many people probably were working longer hours taking care of kids not in school or trying to do online school with them or caretaking for elders. If there is any caretaking involved there are disruptions when there are disruptions people work longer to achieve work goals, if people were able to keep pace even working longer and they get this load horse manure, shame on this place. People ki---d themselves to try to make everything work. This place is the most employee unfriendly place I have ever worked at. It was not always like that, but certainly what it has become. So glad to have stepped away from this place.

I heard they were actually looking at productivity from wfm. Comparing OT with output as well as even seeing how long people are away, on internet etc from someone that was close to this. Said that the metrics generated is a big reason for wfh not being offered company-wide full time. Said there was a large portion of employees that just weren't as productive from home. No idea of truth, just what i was told.... said that people were taking 10 or 11 hours to do what they were doing in 8 at the office just as an example.

There are tons of remote positions! We weren't even offered a choice of working remotely. I have spoken to many who wanted to work remotely. I have been applying to jobs since May and interviewing. I was particular in my job search. The Wall Street banks do not care about their employees concerns.

Don't waste your time with the politics or thinking what people will or will not do. If it really comes down to getting the shot of losing their job then 99.9999% of BNY Mellon employees will get the shot.

BNY employees are treated like absolute garbage and almost nobody leaves on their own. They all hang on for dear life begging to stay on the BNY Mellon Titanic for as long as possible before it sinks.

Now you're gonna tell me a significant number of these employees are going to draw the line in the sand wand quit because of a covid shot. LOL

So… the vaccine causes issues to drivers? Interesting theory, care to share your research?

I meant ayco, not acyo. It's the gs company that provides free financial planners to bk employees.

Its hard to have a plan when you’ve worked 60+ hour weeks for years in technology. Where is the time to have a plan, let alone even seeing your family?

@xmz, I did. That's why I don't give a cr-p if anyone else is vaccinated. And I have morals so I know that it's not my place to force it on people.

People leaving without a plan will question why they didn’t leave years ago.

I went to my financial planner and decided it's time to retire.
Was planning on working a few more years but that was based on numbers from the free planner we get through Acyo. Their number showed me drawing down my 401(k) balance over the years but failed to include the growth so it was WAY off.

If you have more than 100 employees, then the business has no choice. The commies in the white house seem to think they are god.

Here’s a thought: why not consider doin when all respected medical experts recommend is best for your health and that of your community and get the vaccine so you don’t die? And you can keep your job in the process.

Or listen to Joe Rogan and others who are looking to make money off people by letting them die.

Chilling for 6 months is fine if you can financially do so. But with no unemployment or sub pay it might be hard for some. Go to a company that offers the weekly testing option.

A lot of companies are offering weekly testing. Believe me … they are a ton of places to go that aren’t mandating that you inject the vaccine! Get out of this place while you can!

if the displaced workers are smart, they'll just chill out for the next 6 months while the vaxxed start having health issues. it's already happening - auto accidents are up 18% this year compared the prior 10 year average.

I have no reason to work and be a productive member of society when the rest of society, govt, and corporations (like bny felon) want to make me a slave. can't get blood from a rock
