Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

I am more angry than happy that I resigned

I used to be proud to work here. I thought I would stay here for a long time, but I really couldn't stand the increased daily stress anymore. I ended up getting a much better job, but I’m not happy to be leaving.

Many are overjoyed after resigning but I think it is more a bag of mixed feelings. In fact, I am more angry and frustrated that they created such a horrible atmosphere here that I had to leave a place where I really enjoyed working.

When three people needed to see a physical document, back in carbon paper days, they needed to be in the same place. Think of the iconic Littlewoods pools building in Liverpool UK -- thousands of people checking millions of pools entry forms hat arrived by the trainload every week. Distributing that would make no sense, a logistical nightmare. But now suppose the forms are in networked computers instead of physical pieces of paper! The possibilities for organizing the work are endless.

i hear ya. it's like a bad breakup. i have felt that way in my career before. you just have to trust that you made the right decisions and don't look back. many years ago I got laid off and it took me 6 months to find a job which I took a deep pay cut just so that I could get back to work. I worked that job for two years and felt like I didn't get any respect, so I decided to look for a new job again. I did land another role making more money than when I got laid off, and after one year at that new job, I got promoted to VP. So it took a few years, but that layoff was a blessing in disguise. And it validated me and all the decisions I made up to that point.

It’s kind of sad to see good employees leaving and you’re not the first or would be the last. Leadership in this company has failed in how they’re managing RTO. As someone said in another post, a bunch of outdated minds, set in their ways and not willing to come to terms that people are just not willing to go back to the office and pretend it’s BAU. Most have realized that their jobs can successfully be done from home. Why put them through the trouble of having to waste unnecessary time getting dressed and commute just to sit in a building to do the same exact work. It makes no sense! Times are hard as it is. Covid was a mental and emotional drain on everyone for two long years and now a war where high gas prices is a constant presence in everyone’s mind. Yet this employer wants to preach how much they supposedly care about their employees.
