Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Left the company- still have a ton of equipment

I left BNY a few months ago and I was working from home with a whole set up (2 monitors, laptop, accessories, dock) and when I resigned my manager told me not to take my equipment to the office. He insisted that I wait for technology to send me boxes to mail back as part of the off boarding process.

I haven’t gotten any boxes or heard anything. Has anyone else who resigned/got laid off experienced this?

I was a contractor that left last March. I never was given a box or label for my laptop. Tried contacting multiple contacts I had for my team after I left as well as contracting agency. From the few replies I got, they were conflicting answers. Then they stopped replying. I still have it.

They don’t confirm receipt of any of your bank computer equipment. However, you do print out labels for return and you can use those to prove that they received your equipment. Save copies of them.

On the reverse side… I’ve been completely unsuccessful in getting my personal property. I understand from calling as well as unofficial word of mouth that with floor layout changes and an overwhelmed skeleton facilities crew that most all employee properly was mislabeled, unlabeled and even tossed by the skeleton crew.

I personally cannot fathom how systematically boxing and labeling cubicle contents under the occupant’s employee ID and name is difficult, but this is BNYM and these simple things often are impossible here. I’ve moved on… enjoy my stuff.

To be honest, that is gross negligence. You should take the high road and negotiate with them.

I resigned last AUG.. they sent me stickers for DHL to collect.
There was a problem.. in my hurry to get the PC equipment out of my place, I left the box outside my house overnight. When DHL called around, there was no box to collect.. someone made off with the box.. I am now in a dispute with the company.. they want me to pay 2K, quoting "gross incompetence"

Not sure about other locations but my building was actually really good about boxing and tagging peoples property. It was done by facilities and BNYM doesn’t own the building so that could be why since the bank didn’t have anything to do with it. As far as returning said property to employees who resigned, I haven’t seen that happen at all which isn’t a surprise.

I too received boxes and returned laptop, etc. unfortunately BNYM has ignored all of my requests to get my personal property returned to me. I’ve learned a bit about this and my understanding is that the bulk of peoples’ property is untagged and unaccounted for. Doesn’t surprise me at all.

Returned my laptop to One Wall a year ago. Haven't heard if they ever received it.

I was laid off in January 2021 and didn't receive shipping boxes from technology until May 2021

When I left in September they sent box's with labels on them. Make sure you record the tracking numbers on the labels. They are not doing a good job of recording what they are receiving from whom. They kept sending box's even after I had returned everything. I had to send an email to tell them I had sent everything back.

After I left, I was emailed a label to use to ship my laptop back, but I was busy getting my life back instead and didn't get around to it. After a couple of months, a box showed up. Inside was a shipping label and a single piece of bubble wrap. It was the only thing the company ever did for me.

When I resigned, I got an email with a UPS label to ship everything back and that was it. Had to the actual packaging on my own.
