Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

We are taking one hit after another

We just lost another great employee last week and I can't understand why they were so willing to let her walk away. She has been here for over a decade and is one of the few people who are knowledgeable and willing to share that knowledge and help others. I guess she was tired of seeing brown-nosers being promoted over her and she decided to leave. I appreciate that she knew her value and was willing to walk away, but I hate that management doesn't realize how much her absence will affect our team. We lost another guy two weeks ago, another one of the good ones, so this will just add insult to injury. I don't blame anybody for leaving but I blame the management for making our jobs so much harder by driving the best people away.

Well to be fair..its pretty hard to convince someone not to walk once they have made the decision. We do not rush into these decisions without thorough analysis about what is best for us..once the decision to made is leave cutting bigger cheques is unlikely to change it

They truly do not care if they lose good people. As long as things function, they're happy.

I was in a dead-end job for years before the no growth bs pushed me to escape. I’m so grateful to have an exciting new job! You have to assess your “value” in the marketplace by applying to jobs and getting offers. You will be surprised at what you are really worth. Good luck!

I left a week ago after spending 3 years at the bank and haven’t looked back. After months and months of applying and interviewing for roles internally - seeking a band promotion or a lateral move on a high impact team - and seeing less experienced people receiving the offer, it became clear that staying here was a dead end.

Because BofA wasn’t going to give a top performer the opportunity to grow their career here, I sought my promotion externally and feel incredibly lucky to have secured a $35K base raise and full time WFH role, while staying in the same industry.

My advice to others: There’s a reason why so many good people have left the bank. Flexibility and money can be found on the external job market, just don’t wait too long or you’ll miss your opportunity!

Same here. They're so full of themselves they think it's not them it's you when you decide to leave.

BOA employees are simply a number. The more you work for this company the more they take advantage of you for little to no pay. If you are a pet you are all good. Upper level management out Chicago have made it clear there will only be $0 promotions (title change), and “if you wish to be promoted or advance your career you must apply for a different position, because promotions are a thing of the past”. Only the bottom of the barrel company would allow an employee to bust their azz, mentor others in the group, and congratulate the employee with a title change that pays $0.

Wishing you much success at Chase.

Almost 12 years with the bank, once I realized everyone was just a number, it makes it so much easier. Everyone will get laid off, sooner or later. Or they will leave on their own.

It's all about senior management cutting payroll expenses to boost the stock price. To the bean counters, you're just a number. They actually want more experienced workers to leave in order to replace with younger employees at reduced pay. HR doesn't even bother with exit interviews which used to be the norm. It's a short-term strategy, but complete buffoonery long-term. You can't build a world-class organization gutting your employee base.

Friday was my last day after putting in my 2 weeks. Going to work at chase for a big raise and way more commission as a banker. I’ve been at BOFA for 4 years and consistently led my market in goals, i train and mentor new and current employees, all customers love me. I put in my 2 weeks and I never even heard back from my boss LOL I had no offboarding, no follow up, no attempt to get me to stay. Nothing!! Unbelievable. This bank sucks
