Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

What's the point of it?

I'd like to know what's the point of us working so hard when all we get in return is being used up until we have no more to give and then we get shown the door without a second thought. Two amazing people who gave their lives to this place for more than a decade were laid off this year. They were among our best and most productive employees. If they are treated that way then what's the point of even trying? It feels like the bank is encouraging us to do the bare minimum.

Giving 10 years of your life and be productive for a billion company wasn't smart anyway.
Rule 1 -do the bare minimum and enjoy your free time.
Rule 2- never try to be smart and say that you identified or know how to fix a problem otherwise, you 'll be offered to find a solution and be thanked with a 20 bucks gift card.
Rule number 3- stop chasing money and promotion. Why the he-l are people doing that?? You really want to spend more time at work, be depressed, stressed, anxious to afford a luxury holiday or get a new car lease to impress your neighbor who don't give a sh-t about your anyway.
Take the best of consumerism and leave the worst for those who want to spend their life in the office.

There's no point. Let's face it, I'm a complete failure.

The type(s) of individuals who will get the first shot at pay raises and promotions has changes drastically over the last 10 years. You may be the type of person who is and will always be held to a higher standard. Do your research and try to find a company that has adopted (and practices) the same performance standards for all employees. Easier said than done, but look toward smaller companies in my opinion.
