Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

With all due respect, some exaggerate a bit

It is true that BofA has many issues and it is true that the problems are just piling up, but I think people exaggerate when they say that this is the worst place they have ever worked at. It's understandable that people are frustrated, but I always try to be objective. If BofA did not have any advantages over other banks, I would've left long time ago and so would most others here.

Places change. A decent company a few years ago can become a cesspool to work for today.

One poster said that there are many exaggerated claims on this entire site. I see people posting from companies that were desirable to work for -- at one time -- but now are lowering pay in absolute terms while cutting benefits, promotion potential and requiring one employee to perform the work of 2 or 3.

Nobody sane appreciates the CEO making billions while you're told to enjoy your 1% raise against 9% inflation. Most people want a fair deal of working for a livable wage while feeling respected and treated humanely.

The other problem is some of the best people have already left or are on their way out. If you thought a company like BoA must have a deep bench, think again. Teams are highly siloed, so losing someone with a lot of experience really hurts. I don't know what the company is doing to stem the tide of attrition but they really should do something fast before the consequences catches up to them.

Yes, every organization has issues, but some have more issues than others. This place, as many have commented, is toxic. There is no work-life balance no matter how much they preach it. When turnover is so high that you're constantly picking up the slack of others, having to trains others, means you can't take time off since the new folks aren't up to speed yet, but management expects the same level of work, if not more, to be completed.

Benefits are also not competitive. I've switched mine to my wife's just because hers is ki---r in comparison (not that it's ki---r in general).

Bonuses and raises are a joke, unless you're SLT and get millions.

Promotions aren't based on work, but rather how well you brown nose.

So yeah, this place is definitely one of the worst.

Every single organization on this is site has exaggerated claims and is the worst place on the planet to work. Then of course the company they work for will be going under 'soon' like this year or the next. Some 'hope' they company goes under. That in turn makes has no logic as the person actually works there. Last but not least everyone could run it better than the CEO or the entire board but fail to have the grammar skills of a high school student.

Disagree. The advantages used to be relatively good benefits and good work life balance. There’s no more work life balance anymore as people are leaving and we’re being expected to do the work of 2-3 people. Benefits are also not competitive anymore with many banks offering the same amount of PTO and also allowing a hybrid schedule. Bank of America will lose the war for talent, it’s happening right now actually.
