This place is usually abuzz with layoffs info but there hasn't been anything concrete for over a month. I'd like to take that as good news and just enjoy it, but I'm getting worried that it could be the calm before the storm. Do we know if anything is brewing or should I just stop being paranoid and relax?

No cuts are needed because so many are leaving (or retiring) on their own.
They are desperate to HIRE.
Have you seen how many Open Roles are posted on the Careers site?
And that's not even all of the openings. (they are too embarrassed to post all the empty seats.)
