Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Responsibilities of P-M roles

Is there any clear breakdown of what each role in P-M is supposed to do? Seems like some folks with the Solution Architect title are trying to run the whole show at Pershing. What’s the deal with the Engineers Head and Group Engineers then?

The newly hired Scrum masters are bookish scrum masters. PMs OWNED the project. They worked with Business, Development QA, Operations until the feature was delivered into production. Scrum masters just run the scrum and do not provide or work towards resolution.
The old PMs who played scrum masters understood the old school and compensated. But the new id--ts (I truly will call the newly hired scrum masters with a certificate for Agile training) are clueless There is a huge gap and JIRA tickets and mails fly but NO ONE is OWNING the effort.

This is where the P-M is going to find its biggest hurdle in delivery (forget about continuous delivery - even scheduled delivery is not going to happen)

The coming year is going to be fun. The chaos and dysfunction is going to expose how stupid the Pershing and Pershing X management is all about

Sit back open a can of beverage of your choice and enjoy the show.

This is going to be epic - A case study for future management course.

@hz+1jgg0n8r3 What’s your source? There is no PM role in P-M,many of the old time PMs have left and rest are fearing for layoffs..Scrum leads are now unofficial PM’s,not that it’s the right way but sadly that’s the reality…

Why does the second letter get replaced with "-"?

Post ID: @gk+1jgg0n8r3 Except they are now bringing in the PM role because nothing was organized nor getting done timely. P-M has been an utter failure. PMs are now being engaged to triage and get traction on deliverables.

If you're a project manager, read the fine print about P O M: The PM role is not there.

Solution Architect is the thinker.
Engineers are the worker bees.

SA is responsible to provide clear-cut Epics and even corresponding stories short of implementation details. They used to be called Application Managers / Development Managers. They stop short of actually coding.
Engineers write the code (with blinders on) for that specifications,, test it and deploy it. They are the boots on the ground.

SA is nothing but talk
Engineers are the actual workers

I’m not sure what the difference is between architect and engineer. At other places architects outrank engineers but that doesn’t seem to be what’s happening here.
