Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Why is HR so incompetent here?

I’ve been at the bank for a bit and every question I’ve ever asked HR was too complicated for them. At most companies HR gets a lot of blame that really isn’t their fault, I ask older employees and they respond with “hr is useless, don’t even try”.

Had a pay question, they send me a link to my paystub.

Had a reimbursement question and they sent me a link to the website I submitted my receipts too.

I’ve already checked those places, found no answers there, so I try escalating and they just brush you off.

Do senior managers have a different portal for HR questions? I’ve asked my boss for help in the past and they seem to get the same responses I do.

I don’t understand how this place isn’t swimming in lawsuits for how incompetent the hr function is.

HR implies the definition: Human resources.
Think about that for a few seconds. That should mean you have human beings supporting human beings that work here. This is a lie. A facade. An illusion. This thing we call ‘HR’ hides behind delays, web sites, portal requests, emails, links and tickets. That means there is really no one communicating or interacting with you. You often chase a wild goose with them. This HR is only geared to defending and covering for Sr. Mgmt. Not workers. Here, ‘HR’ strictly means ‘human reductions’.
