Administrative Operations Needs A New Leader

My sources inside the company indicated that morale is low and over 50% of all employees in Operations have lost confidence in the EVP. He was brought in by Severin and was underqualified. Disasterous results. The division needs a positive outgoing personality and a leader who actually makes decisions, shares information, actually recognizes employees, doesn't bully or curse on calls, and is a real leader. Get a woman from the outside in there now. It's time for a change. We are imploring the Board to get new leadership at the very top of Administrative Operations. Please listen to your employees. Survey results tell it all. To quote Bob Segar, "Turn the Page." If the CHRO can do one thing right, it would be THIS !

Shannon Moriarty was directly responsible for the claim department’s requests that were backlogged years. He never stepped foot in the department. If he had ever bothered to do so, he would have seen filing cabinets stuffed with unprocessed forms along with cardboard boxes with unprocessed forms. Every single day, beneficiaries called desperately trying to get the funds from their loved ones account. Shannon Moriarty was directly responsible for the huge backlog in the processing of withdrawals. He refused to keep knowledgeable reps in the positions and instead allowed them to transfer out ending up with no confident reps available to process withdrawal forms. Again, bins and bins and bins of withdrawal forms not being processed. Can you imagine an insurance company that can’t pay out claims? That was Mutual of America. Shannon Moriarty was directly responsible for the problems in the call center. He refused to hire additional reps. There were not enough people to answer the phones. Shannon‘s big idea was to hire a third-party company to allow subpar reps on the phone, then laid off the entire team. Shannon Moriarty determined that service should be moved out of the regional office. This changed the entire dynamic of customer service not to mention he did this in the middle of a conversion. Under his leadership, we lost employers, participants and our ratings plummeted. He should’ve been one of the first people to be let go. Under his leadership in operations, he single-handedly destroyed what made Mutual of America great.
