BNY is slowly forcing employees back into the office—not because it improves collaboration (it doesn’t), but to justify wasting money on office buildings and make people quit without paying severance. No one talks in person, no one works differently in person—it’s the same job with an unpaid commute, extra expenses, and more burnout.
It’s a quiet way to push people out so they can rehire at lower salaries, while pretending it’s about “culture” or “productivity.” It’s dishonest, demoralizing, and part of a bigger pattern of gutting the middle class just to protect profits.
Our team loves “Working Together” . We are all ‘working together’ to try and find new jobs for us all…… nothing like teamwork. The race to get out is well and truly on !
4 days per week for everyone as of Sept 2nd.
Rumor of 5 days for MDs, Ds and SDs as of Jan 2026…
So for those of us recently departed, what "genius" idea did the EC confirm now?
I wonder what "circumstances" they'll dream up to force 5 days when they do not get enough people to quit from this. There's not enough room in pgh for 4 days, especially once Grant is gone.
For the people sticking around, why not start a union?
Hey now, aren’t you all excited to see each other again like I am?
I can’t wait to hear the endless drone of noise all day while I’m trying to work on something.
Besides, paying for a spot for my car everyday makes the car feel much more special than the free spot it has in my driveway.
Get off your bullsh-t. If people went in like they were supposed to and stop pulling bs they wouldn't be babysitting anyone. If you actually worked while at home they wouldnt be on ur azz either. And yes many of us are forced full time home cause they closed our locations to keep open sh-t ones like PA and NY. Boo hoo. Do you think we should be sh-t on cause of sr mgmt.doing that to us? Get over ur selves. Try working and minding ur business.
Makes me laugh how they “say” they care about our mental health, so focused on the free coffee and now gyms in certain location and dont hear about work like balance
It’s a tough market. Best bet is to switch career paths. But I have some noise to make on my way out. Some people to toss under the bus
some recruiters are saying that they aren’t taking anymore BNY resumes because they have gotten so many
It’s bad enough being viewed as some biological infestation by this c- su.cker of a company. But now, to be also regarded as a surplus of ‘aphids’ by recruiters? At what point do we say we’ve hit rock bottom? Which way is up?
Our team was 3 days in office a week pre-pandemic as well. This is ludicrous.
Same here, I’m out as soon as I can. This place has so much defection and the only reprieve from that is being at home. If it was so important to see us you would actually pay us market value.
I'm hoping the markets aren't as flooded in Nashville. Good luck to everybody in the Pittsburgh and New York markets, I really feel for y'all ☹️
Next will be going back to desktop pcs as they're cheaper. You'll be in there 80% of your waking life.
Mine has been updated for over a year now. The market is rough.
"our offices are already open to you to come in as frequently as you'd like"
Bootlickers across the globe are salivating.
Problem is…. There are so many BNY resumes flooding the market that you just become a number….I have been trying for months to get out and some recruiters are saying that they aren’t taking anymore BNY resumes because they have gotten so many……
I have been with the company for 13 years or so and every group I've been in has been amazing. Every boss I have had has been awesome and has always pushed me to go bigger, do better. My teams have always been amazing and supportive and hard workers, very few bad apples. I have more than doubled my salary in my years here, have caned exponential knowledge and have so many wonderful contacts, friends, colleagues., I have been remote working for 9 or 10 years now, well before the pandemic. I cannot do 4 days a week in the office. That is where I draw the line. And this company is destroying its employees in every way possible and I cannot watch it anymore. I haven't touched the resume in a few years, but here we go. Stressed sigh
Can they lower the morale any lower
My team worked 3days from the office before pandemics and no one was complaining. Its just stupid.
So a core pillar is Own It, yet no one on the executive committee included their names on the letter...
Yes and I’ve heard managing directors who wfh will not be included and be exempt from the staff being pushed from wfh to be in an office or let be go - Bny certainly doesn’t treat their staff equally. I know in my dept I’ve heard they are looking to reduce wfh staff by about 20% percentage quarterly so anyone who currently wfh.
Unbelievable! Kindergarten got more strict again - soon the kids will not take it anymore!! Time to find a more lenient nanny!
I would like to get my blood money for working there for many years, before leaving.
And the dozens of Dirs, SrDirs, MDs with BAH arrangements will continue to live their best life from their home offices, while extolling the awesome office facilities (free coffee!) for the peons. The royalty vs. the serfs.
There are still employees that are allowed to be remote
So the email says all employees, but there is an asterisk. What kind of employees are not "Flex?" Seems odd to me they say all employees and then immediately have an out for people. I wonder if I can get designated as something else. I wonder how many have only had to come in two days a week and will continue to come in two days a week. Good for them, but this seems discriminatory.
Here’s an idea why don’t all the people that never stopped talking about 4 day's a week immediately start talking about 5 days a week until we get that too.
Already looking
The people good people are being targeted for exit while the worst of the worst are staying and even flourishing.
It’s been updated for month but the job market is rough right now 😭
