Engagement Activities

Anyone else tired of all the repeat emails and “friendly reminders” that they forward about engagement activities and stuff that’s easily found on flagscape?! Why do they complicate things and fill up our mailbox with duplicate garbage?
If we had the time, or if we were interested, we would dig in and participate.

I’m already exhausted with having to be on endless calls planning engagement activities that I don’t have the capacity to deal with to begin with.. and then they take 3 weeks to “run it by leadership” just to get word that they went in a different direction or made their own decisions.. which then leads to a fire-drill for us engagement “volunteers” (aka Volun-told) to share with our teams.. it’s such a waste of time! They have 15 people on their business support team, so why don’t they just handle it?! And why do they send emails out asking one person in an Org to follow up on past due learning or updating their contact numbers
?!? Just assign someone on your team of 15 to get it done! It’s so d-mb that they pass all this work on to us.. ITS THEIR JOB!

I’m just dreading all the engagement stuff that they’re going to try and ramp up close to the holidays, which always is added stress for those of us who have to deal with planning this cr-p! Want to make employees happy.. let them focus on their actual job, get their work done, and go home to their families!

Our org forwards the same communications 4x over within the same hour — clearly, they don’t realize we’re in the DG and got the first 18 emails. It’s honestly chaos and a pain in the @$$.

It's pretty easy to delete an e-mail.

@owy+1jvGsWas - nah... the leaders who manager the ESAT and D&I programs actually really love this stuff -- and they think they are doing a really good job!

More emails, events, etc. = more engagement

And they pat themselves on the back.

They're completely oblivious!!!

Maybe to distract you from real things that they are planning, like reorganization, losses and RIF.

Yes! They’re coming at us from all directions! I can’t tell you how much time I spend sifting through this stuff trying to figure out if there’s something I need to do, or if I just wasted time with 25% of my inbox being bank activities and completely unrelated to my actual job.

I was pulled into engagement stuff a few years back and steered very clear ever since. We don’t get a budget, or have any consistency across teams.. we don’t get anything other than more work-load, more calls, and basically doing someone else’s job… when you plan the activities, you never get to enjoy them- it’s just a stressful time and you can’t wait until the activity is over... especially because they always rush this stuff in at the last minute/end of year as you’re trying to wrap up your work so you can also take leave for the holidays. I don’t envy anyone who has to deal with this and I honestly think the bank should just do something consistent across all Orgs..
