Thread regarding Mutual of America Life layoffs

Defections, Demotions, Discrimination ?

Many high profile people the firm right now. A lot from the field offices. Many sales leaders are jumping ship on West coast. Word is that the individual who overseas the west has many personality conflicts and people want out from under him. Likewise, he and other executive sales leaders stripped many Female VPs of their titles who run region offices and demoted them. Now, only white male men control the field. There are no longer any females in field leadership. Last year the director of compensation took away many titles and that also felt like a demotion. Now the white men who are in there are not doing any better than the woman and in many situations they are doing worse. This all comes on the heels of only 3 Client Relationship Managers who officially promoted in April. Meanwhile, over a dozen men, many of who hadn't hit their sales goals consistently were promoted. Favor-tism and nepotism continues to run rampant and HR appears powerless over the white male men. Don't believe me and think I have an ax to grind ? As many of my females colleagues and they will bend your ear.

The leader on the west coast was absolutely a bully and had a power trip ego. He was a poor leader if you could even call him a leader. It was sad that he was promoted for actions where he should have been fired over but was protected by you know who. Glad both are finally gone. Many actions and behaviors were overlooked.

“Have any of your female colleagues shared their concerns with HR or leadership directly, or are they relying on you to be their sole advocate?”

The reality is, the absence of female leadership in the field speaks volumes and the impact is clear: slow but steady decline. If leadership doesn’t recognize that a team of white men in VP roles doesn’t reflect the MoA’s clients and participants, that disconnect says more about them than they might realize.

And if you believe the EVPs are truly committed to change, you’re mistaken. Their priority appears to be controlling hiring decisions and not offering opportunities to leaders who bring expertise, valuable insight, and a track record of results.

It’s time to stop overlooking female talent. HR and leadership should reach out and engage directly with the women who have been doing the work and already driving success on the ground.

Unlike you, I am not pretending to take up my female colleagues' cause. You post anonymously and then expect a response not to be anonymous? Maybe I gave you too much credit calling you Don Quixote. Take care, Sancho Panza.

"And what a knight you are, anonymously posting on thelayfoff.com,"

Isn't it exactly what you are doing, posting anonymously?

Have any of these female colleagues of yours reported their concerns to HR or management, or do they all think YOU are their knight in shining armor? And what a knight you are, anonymously posting on thelayfoff.com, it's like we are reading the words of Sir Lancelot himself. I am in awe of your selfless concern, impressive strategy, and chivalry.

On second thought, maybe you're more like Quixote tilting at windmills.

@OP

White? Who is discriminating?

Let me remind you that the Executive VP in charge of HR is black and a big advocate of DEI.

I recent left the company and would agree with the posters comments about the individual currently overseeing field sales in the Western part of us. He has a bunker mentality, has no personality, and is a bully. Get rid of him and Bailey.
