Thread regarding Luminar layoffs

Ding

Luminar just started another round of cuts...it's all over the interent so this is a particular news update, i guess more of my 2 cents on the proble. no word on how many people but it's gonna cost them around 5M in severance. this is on top of cutting 30% of staff last year (around 200 people). those cuts cost them 5M too. russell just got kicked out by the board after some "ethics inquiry we all know it's a code name for nastu stuff... they won't say what he did. new guy's from nuance. Russell became a billionaire when we went public in 2021 at a 3.4B valuation while we raised extra 250M before that. now we're just cutting people left and right. honestly the whole lidar thing hasn't worked out like everyone thought...Tough times I guess. Another board member quit right after russell got booted too. says it wasn't because of disagreements but timing is weird as he-l. heads up if you're looking at lidar companies we're not exactly stable right now
