This company has changed in the last few years. Theres a clique of people hired in by their mates and now theyre slowly dragging the company into mediocrity

I totally agree. It’s not how hard you wake up who you know there. They are protecting relatives and friends that are hired in. They are getting rid of good employees and keeping and promoting bad ones.
Slowly? I worked there for 5 years. It’s always been mediocre at the top.

Only work that requires mediocre skill is outsourced - wake up. A Techie label is not guarantee of real skill.
