I've been with the company for 17+ years, so I'm firmly on the YES! side. How about you?

Good luck to all of the 1000+ volunteers!
Post here if you get the good news!
Over 1000 volunteers! The people have spoken!
YES
Why so mad? Someone fa---d in your bowl of gluten-fat-free-vegan-carbon-neutral bowl of cheerios this morning?
It’s a long weekend and if we’re lucky enough we get laid off next week! Be happy!
Don’t be upset because this poll got more traction than anything you’ve (n)ever accomplished in your miserable life.
500 is less than 1%. Have a ball sending your missive to HR. Why not just go right to Robin with it?
I agree with most of what you’re saying, except the first two sentences in the first two paragraphs.
Also, regarding “ The Trump money was squandered on worthless Tech projects”, remember when the Trump tax cuts were put in place and just about everyone got a cash bonus? Heck, even Walmart employees got a $1k bonus, except BNY employees, of course; the money was to be spent on technology… LOL
I just totally outed myself with the passage above. If there are any coworkers of mine following this, feel free to ping me ;)
Yes, you’re paranoid. Issuing shared values and "Communications Code of Conduct" are not mutually exclusive with layoffs. Layoffs were coming and we’ve known that since Robin came in. Heck, we’ve known it since Todd stepped down. We haven’t had a significant layoff since Scharf’s August 2018 layoff. That included 2 years of COVID work at home.
We all understand (or should) that our efficiency ratio is way above our peers. The Trump money was squandered on worthless Tech projects with no payback and we have got to get our expenses under control.
Expenses mean people. All employees are expenses.
To “volunteer please”:
I’ve known people to volunteer. The issue is, if the manager would accept the surrender, the manager loses the job rec.
@2qsz You're right; there are no layoffs taking place next week and therefore BNY wouldn't want anyone talking to the media. Pure paranoia...
/s
@2rus Paranoid much? Literally every new CEO releases a "Communications Code of Conduct" and new shared values. Robin is a bit slower on the uptake than most.
It's quite common for employees to confirm layoffs to the media. It's called a "leak". And reporters will leave names out of it - they benefit from protecting their sources.
Well, that's for employees so if you are laid off then comment all you want to the media unless given a nice sub pay.
Agree. I thought the timing of that was interesting also….
ironic, how they talk about ethical behavior, and conduct all the time.
Interesting timing of the last corp email titled "Communications Code of Conduct"...
It's almost like they're getting ready for something big...

Am I being too greedy if I wait until tomorrow? These numbers are looking great! Imagine it got to 1K? I'd e-mai both Rob and HR!!!
@1nth Those are probably the equivalent to the Chinese Communist Party members that trolls online forums defending the regime. Maybe BNY has its own army of paid trolls - or unpaid summer interns.
Really weird we have the I love BNY scouring this website and calling us losers and whiners while they are playing defense linemen for..BNY..
I mean if we are losers….I don’t know what the word is to describe them.

If (when) it makes to 500, I'll email it to HR.
@gvb, so why are you here if you love BNYM so much? You sound like a kiss a-s employee looking to spread gossip to all the cohorts like you at the bank. So you come here, read the unhappy employee comments and go back and report to the others? Piece of advice, go back to your a-s kissing job and leave this site to those who want to complain about how bad BNYM is to work at. You are the perfect example of an employee that makes working at the bank not a pleasurable place to work.
BNY is a dumpster fire. Essentially AMTRAK.
This is crazy! So far...

I may actually email HR a link to this and ask them why to implement a voluntary program...
Keep the votes coming!
Why not look at it rationally… if you’re good at your job and valuable… but NOT well rewarded or connected, why the heck would you ask for or offer to be displaced? Any engaged manager would realize that you’re looking and figure that you’ll be leaving for free… so why pay you to leave? You’ll lose all leverage and actually be devalued in upcoming raises and bonuses.
Now some teams are made up of long standing best friends and that’s a quite different dynamic. They confide in one another and plan together. I’ve seen people wangling a planned year off due to “a layoff” only to return a year later in the same job with a raise.
So for all of you who hate this company and want to be laid off, why don’t you let your mgrs know you volunteer should it come down to them needing a body count? Then you’ll save someone who wants to work and shouldn’t be let go and the rest of us won’t have to deal with you cry babies anymore
