It was actually a good decision to create XBK. Investment management has numerous separate trading arms before. Consolidation and targeting outsource trading as a growth area is a smart move.

One of the many brilliant CEOs of Asset Mgmt decided to spin off the buyside trading (execution) desk into its own company under the guise of algo/quant/outsourced trading (or pick your own buzzword of the day). Then laid off all the traders and other internal asset managers refused to use their services. CHEERS!!!!
