Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

The Telecom Paradox More Traffic. Same Revenue.

The Telecom Paradox
More Traffic. Same Revenue.

Telecom is working harder than ever.

Traffic is exploding.
AI, video, cloud, 5G, FWA, everything runs on our networks.

But revenue?

Flat.

We operate one of the most capital-intensive industries in the world on a model that rewards volume… but not value.

This isn’t temporary pressure. It’s structural imbalance.

The digital economy is expanding exponentially. Yet the infrastructure enabling it
captures a shrinking share of the value.

The Reality & Problem for Verizon:

It’s like claiming that LCD manufacturers should benefit from more pixels being displayed when users watch more video

All true.
Will Verizon change ?
Nope.
You can't have change with inept "leaders" who write poems to the wives with AI...
Don't trust me ?
Mark this post, and come back later, when WZV will be sold for pennies on the $

X100. I think the only critique I have is GTE is was a far better run company than Bell Atlantic. Which was the sole reason for the merger becoming Verizon. GTE had more money due to being more efficient and strategic. For sure though, the old wireline methods and procedures were superior to the mess that was created. By running a telco company like just another “tech” company, throwing money around in all the wrong places. No investment into updating equipment, infrastructure, etc. of course we’ve fallen behind. A good portion of management has no idea what their job actually is. New systems and reorgs don’t do a damn thing, if people don’t have a basic understanding of the backbone of the industry they are in. I’ve been in meetings with executives that still don’t understand why we even need wireline for wireless services. “Wireline is an outdated technology. Wireless is the future”

Yeah. How does wireless work without wireline? Crickets. These are the people making decisions for the company. Wonder why we’re losing market share. Innovation means nothing when you have no clue about what got you here to begin with.
